Research Paper
• Thesis: To fully understand yoga as a whole one must know the basics such as the history, effects on the body, and varies types of yoga that exist.
• The word Yoga means “to join or create a union,” and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.
• The whole system of Yoga is built on three main structures: exercise, breathing, and meditation.

• The physical part of my project (5 hours) focuses on sessions with my mentor in perfecting my form in yoga.

Successes
• Balance• Tree Pose• Eagle Pose
• Forward Bends• Pigeon Pose• Standing Forward Bend
• Backbends• Bridge pose• Upward facing dog
Challenges
• Inverted Poses• Supported Headstand• Easy Plow Pose• Unsupported Shoulder Stand
• I realized that it can take some time to learn these poses. I thought I would be able to get it right away but that’s not the case. Some of these poses are difficult and my body wasn’t able to perform. I had to try many times. Each time was frustrating for me.
• Time is everything. To be able to properly learn each pose you need time to try over and over again. Practice makes perfect. I didn’t have as much time as I thought I would.
Mentor Reflection
Mentor: Wilhemina Ray
A passionate yogi. She is a wonderful mentor who works me hard and the definition of patient. She taught me how to perform many yoga poses and help put my body into shape. Despite her age she continues to do yoga to show that yoga is for any age. She is also a LPN nurse and she is a great inspiration me.
Conclusion

• Something that I will do for the rest of my life
