You Are a Masterpiece
We are God’s masterpiece! God has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
- Ephesians 2:10
“You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust.
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us.”
- Gungor
The miraculous feeding (Matthew 14:13-21). Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 37-50). The raising of Lazarus
(John 11:1-44). Jesus turning water into wine (John 2:1-11).
Our youth and adult leaders encountered these famous stories this summer at Camp Lutherhaven as we ex-
plored the nature of God’s work in the world. Masterpieces, all of them. God feeds hungry people with good
things, showers imperfect people with mercy, promises new life from deathly circumstances, and provides
abundantly for everyone, even when there doesn’t seem to be enough.
But God also makes masterpieces out of each of us, inviting us into the holy work of feeding, mercy, new
life, and abundant sharing.
Our youth lived what they learned at Camp Lutherhaven. They rolled up their sleeves and stained decks and
furniture for future guests to enjoy, dug holes for a new construction project, and removed debris from paths
at Shoshone Mountain Retreat to make way for hikers and horse riders.
How are you part of God’s masterpiece? What gifts do you bring to bear on the world God so loves? May God
continue to make beautiful things out of our young people at Peace, and may God continue to make a beauti-
ful thing out of you!
From Pastor’s Desk...
Things you may not know about the Reformation -
shared from the Living Lutheran Magazine.
1. The name “Lutheran” originated as a derogatory
term used against Martin Luther by German
scholastic theologian Johann Maier von Eck dur-
ing the Leipzig Debate in 1519.
2. The Reformation created a demand for all kinds
of religious writings. Readership was so great
that the number of books printed in German in-
creased from about 150 in 1518 to nearly 1,000
six years later.
3. By the time Luther dies, 30 editions of the Small
Catechism had been published. By the end of
the 16th century, there were an additional 125
editions in circulation and approximately 100,000
copies in print.
4. AN estimated 6,001,500,000 bibles have been
printed since the first one came off the press in
the Middle Ages. The first bibl;e published in
North America was printed in 1663.

Blessing Conspiracy News! 34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you
visited me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And
when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family,[a] you did it to me.’
Matthew 25:34-40
Peace Lutheran is becoming a host site for Family Housing Network!
This is an amazing opportunity to live out the gospel by providing food and housing to families and single par-ents that are in need of a place to stay while securing permanent housing!
Family Housing Network is an overnight family shelter program that is well-established, that screens and background checks our guests, provides us with 24 hour support and help, and goes to great lengths to en-sure that the program is safe for the host site. All guests are already qualified and accepted into a rapid re-housing program and working with social workers on a permanent housing placement. These guests just need a temporary place to stay while they complete the process of securing new housing. Three members of the blessing conspiracy ministry team have completed training with Family Housing Network and are ready to start preparing for our guests.
What does this look like at Peace Lutheran?
We will host guests from Saturday August 5th through Saturday August 12th!
We will provide a safe, warm, and welcoming place for parents and their children to stay for one week. Our guests will arrive starting at 5:30 pm in the evening. We will provide overnight accommodations until 7:30 am. We will also provide a hot dinner each evening and a continental breakfast in the morning.
Where do you fit in?
You can serve by helping with dinner, visiting with our guests, playing with the children, hosting at night, or donating games, books or toys. A member of the outreach ministry team will be present and volunteering along aside you! Please consider becoming involved in this opportunity to serve our neighbors and be on the lookout for how to get involved and serve! Mark the dates on your calendar to help. Sign Up sheets will be in the fellowship area starting on Sunday July 9th. If you have questions just ask Karen, Mary, Charlene or Trish!

What A Bright Idea Peace received a lighting upgrade throughout the church building (except the sanctuary) and in the office. The congregation benefited from Puget Sound Energy's Small Business Direct Install Pro-gram, defraying the majority of the cost of the instal-lation.
Our estimated annual savings as a result of the up-grade will be 20,164 kWh of energy, or $1,976.11!
