The Christmas season wouldn’t be complete without attending a much loved lights switch on! As the lights are switched on, streets across Redcar and Cleveland will be packed with festive cheer as the official countdown for Christmas begins.

Loftus Lights Up High Street, Loftus24 November, 5pmFor the first time ever there will be a switch on of Loftus’ new Christmas lights. Santa will be there to oversee the proceedings, followed by seasonal refreshments in Loftus Town Hall. Look out for family fun and games in the market place. Partnership event organised by Light Up Loftus and Loftus Town Council.

Redcar Christmas Lights Switch On High Street, Redcar30 November, 5pm – 7pm Steve Colman, Smooth Radio’s Breakfast Show Presenter, will be hosting the evening, we’ll have a choir performing and music from Smooth Radio to get you into the festive spirit, with the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland and Father Christmas switching the lights on.

Dormanstown Christmas Pageant Farndale Square, Redcar /Corus Sports and Social Centre1 December, 5pm & 6pm To celebrate 100 years of Dormanstown our annual pageant will be the biggest yet. Starting at Farndale Square the Christmas tree lights will be switched on, followed by Christmas celebrations at the Corus Club.

Saltburn Christmas ParadeAlbion Terrace, Saltburn2 December, 4.30pm Events will take place throughout the afternoon at Saltburn library. Gather round the Christmas tree on Albion Terrace from 4.30pm for a sing along before the Christmas tree lights switch on at 5pm. The Fire Brigade, with help from a few Star Wars characters will bring Santa into town where he will be meeting children in the station portico.

Redcar Christmas Lights Switch On with Smooth RadioHigh Street, Redcar30 November, 5pm - 7pm. Switch On at 6.30pmSteve Colman, Smooth Radio’s Breakfast Show Presenter, will be hosting the evening. Visit Father ChristmasA trip to see Father Christmas can make the festive season a lot more magical. There are plenty of opportunities to meet him as he makes some very special appearances across Redcar and Cleveland.

Father Christmas comes to Ormesby HallOrmesby HallEvery weekend between 2 – 17 December Timed sessions from 11.15am. £5 per child. Normal admission applies. Father Christmas invites you to join him in his cosy grotto for a special Christmas gift and some festive fun. New Marske Christmas ParadeNew Marske Sports & Social Club, New Marske 1 December, 5pmFather Christmas, with assistance from Cleveland Fire Brigade, will parade through New Marske. Upon arriving at the Gleneagles Centre there will be entertainment including Punch and Judy, craft stalls and refreshments.

Marske Christmas Festival and Santa ParadeMarske Leisure Centre / Marske Hall7 DecemberCraft fair 3 – 8pm. Santa parade 6pmThis fantastical parade includes Santa and his reindeers, local schools, community groups, pipers and even a marching band! Entertainment on offer will also include a funfair, musical acts, craft fair and singing around the Christmas tree.

Rotary Club of Redcar Boxing Day DipRedcar Promenade 26 December, 11am. £10 registration fee. Come and join hundreds of other Boxing Day dippers run into the icy water of the North Sea at Redcar Beach, raising funds for your favorite charity. Magical Middlesbrough Christmas Light Switch onCentre Square, Middlesbrough23 November, 5pm – 8pmJoin us on Centre Square for the Magical Middlesbrough Christmas lights switch on! Entertainment begins at 5pm, with the live stage show running from 6pm to 7.30pm. Local bands, choirs and community groups will create the most magical music before a finale full of fire dancers and fireworks! Our festive Christmas markets are also opening on the day, along with traditional fairground rides and games.

Magical Middlesbrough Christmas MarketsCentre Square, Middlesbrough 23 November – 17 DecemberA Christmas market will be permanently in position during this time selling a range of goods and festive treats including mulled wine, chocolate, hot food and beverages and Christmas gift ideas. There will be 25 traditional log cabins, a Christmas Grotto where children (and adults!) can visit Santa, and a variety of vintage style fairground rides and attractions. The market will also play host to a variety of entertainment on selected dates throughout the market period. Magical Middlesbrough Reindeer ParadeMiddlesbrough Town Centre 26 November, 1pmThe ever-popular Reindeer Parade will begin at 1pm. As always, talented dance groups, walking artists, choirs, schools and other friends of Santa, as well as the man himself will parade through the town centre to spread the festive spirit. This year’s route is different to make it bigger and better than ever, so it’s not to be missed! Start at Southfield Road and then onto Linthorpe Road, travelling through the High Street, meeting on Corporation Road and finishing on Albert Road to reach the final destination at Centre Square.
