    Introduction

    Are you ready for the next level of YOUR success?

    One of the first rules of sport psychology is that for an athlete to perform at theirhighest level, they cant solely rely on their natural talents and abilities, they have tounderstand the mental toughness side of what it takes to achieve peak performance.

    I believe this is the same for all of us in our lives. This does not just apply to athletes.This applies to teachers, Fortune 500 executives, salespeople, professionals, thoseleading others in business and in life. This concept applies to all individuals fighting toachieve peak performance in their lives.

    This playbook and video series is about YOUR mental toughness and embracing the

    fact, that your success is not just about changing your habits it's about changing the wayyou think. The most successful people are those who exemplify the importance ofcombining great habits and passion for the process with their ability to embraceadversity and challenge, to remain strong in driving their goals to completion.

    Phase I

    Five Key Factors for Attaining Belief in Yourself

    1.

    Accept the truth: Realizing and identifying with the person you are today is the key tobecoming the person you want to be. We never actuallyfailin life, we just dont always

    get the results that we want. You cannot live a lie. You have to acknowledge and

    identify with what is most important in your life to ultimately, Attain Belief in

    Yourself.

    2. Speak the truth: You may be reluctant even scared -- to talk about or acknowledge

    past behavior and habits that you regret. However, avoiding it only serves to amplify

    the pain and makes us feel like victims. Get the truth out into the light by talking about

    your experiences with a trusted friend or a professional.

    3. Breathe through the truth: Even though every fiber of your being wants to react by

    believing that your actions up to this point have been correct, know that you can change.

    Avoid acting from a place of pain or anger. The best way to prevent blow ups is to

    behave rationally and treat yourself lovingly which will keep you from self-

    destructing.

    4. Process the truth: Give yourself time and space to find your equilibrium. Believe

    confidently and wholeheartedly that making these changes will prompt you to develop

    a stronger foundation. However, recognize that this will take time and give yourselfthat time.

    5. Create a plan based on the truth: Dont expect things to be perfect right away. You cant

    simply flip a switch and have a new life. Old behaviors and mindsets often come back

    into your realm. Stay strong and acknowledge that you must continue to believe and

    actively engage in this process in order to experience concrete change for your future.

    With this in mind, define how do you want to live your life from now on.

    On page 15, write out YOUR Purpose Statement, Personal and Professional goals andideas about the person you want to be and the life you want to live. Once you have

    clarity on this, you can take concrete steps toward realizing your goals and Attaining

    Belief in Yourself.

    The Power to REFRAME

    When faced with adversity, REFRAME the negative response and choose the

    positive SOLUTION to keep YOU on YOUR path to greatness.

    My mother Janet Fishman Newman, taught me the greatest life lesson of all: It's not how long

    you live its how you choose to live your life.

    As a young boy I watched my mother battle a rare disease called Amyloidosis. I also watchedas she unleashed her positive mental attitude on to the world through a journal that she kept.She recognized that she still had to lead my brother and me, in order to show us that we couldfight adversity and challenge to be the best we couldbe in our lives.

    Oftentimes, my mother would receive phone calls from the Boston Medical Center and Dr.Martha Skinner, telling her that she needed to come to Boston for painful procedures. It got sobad that at one point, she had to wear jobst stockings around her legs to control the swellingand a mask to be able to go outside. As a single mom, divorced when I was 6 months old, my

    mother would hang up the phone and immediately pick the phone back up and call herboyfriend Alan. She was focused on a solution recognizing she was still leading my brotherand me. She knew we were watching her response to her adversity.

    Her focus was to turn the medical trip to Boston into a family trip. Because her boys likedChinese food, she planned visits to Chinatown. Because we liked bowling, we would gocandlestick bowling. My mother made a conscious choice to focus on the positive solutionrather than holding on too tightly to the negative results that she couldn't control from herprognosis.

    I believe that this exemplifies for all of us The Power to REFRAME.The next time you face

    adversity or challenge in your life, focus on REFRAMING,rather than holding on too tightlyor spending too much time on the negativity. Choose to always focus on a positive response tomaintain a path of success.

    There is a psychology principle called expectancy theory which states; that which you focuson expands. If you focus on the positive you get more positive and if you choose to focus onnegative you get more negative. This is a choice for you when you face challenge or adversity.What will you choose the next time you face adversity? Will you choose to REFRAME?

    Remember the key is challenging yourself to think beyondthe person that you currently are and the things that youhave already achieved. Connect to the person you desireto be and grab your future and bring it to today.

    Take the example of Muhammad Ali. Ali had theunbelievable confidence in himself to believe, I AM theheavyweight champion of the world before he achievedthat goal. Nobody else thought that would be possible, butMuhammad Ali believed in himself. He surrounded himself with advocates whobelieved in him, supported him, loved on him and inspired him to grow. For Ali thiswas more productive than surrounding himself with adversaries who believed againsthim.

    When you look at the story of Muhammad Ali, not only did he become theheavyweight champion of the world, but also he is now recognized as one of thegreatest athletes to ever walk the face of the earth.

    Choosing Passion for the Process over Results:

    Create YOUR Prizefighter Day

    The world we live in today has become so complex- it moves so fast. Financial markets are upand down. We have pressures from work. We face obstacles with friends and family and thenatural ebb and flow of life. What if there was a way that you could target EACH and EVERYday as a victory by focusing on daily activities rather than trying to hold on too tightly to resultsthat we can't control?

    Several years ago, I realized that when I felt stressed and anxious, it was usually a culminationof intense focus on the results of the tasks at hand rather than focusing on being passionateabout the processof what I was doing. I developed a process called YOURPrizefighter Day to

    give individuals the opportunity to make every single day a triumph. Here comes YOURPrizefighter Day. Every single day can be a victory if that's what you choose. The mostsuccessful individuals find great success when they focus on having a passion for the processand they drive their daily behaviors.

    The key: Identify three things that are activity driven for you and your life that if youaccomplish today, makes today victorious (regardless of any obstacles that come your way).Hearing from individuals from around the country who have successfully implemented theseongoing goals, theyve chosen one that's personal, one thats business or athletic related and onethats all about helpingsomeone else:

    1. Personal activity example: waking up every morning and getting in your morning

    workout because it makes you feel good (endorphins) and confident (strong) about yourability to go out and do great things.2. Business related example (in a sales career): setting a specific goal for the number of

    phone calls that you have to make every day knowing that (regardless of the results)will further your business and your success.Athletic related example: following through in the daily process of studying yourplaybook, completing your workout and making the right choices with your dailynutrition.

    3. Example of being in service of another: random act of kindness for another (i.e. buyinga cup of coffee anonymously for the next person in line at the coffee shop).

    Find what fires YOU up without exception and ignite that passion so that you routinely createYOUR Prizefighter day. Take your time. Create your three focal points after watching the videothat are activity driven to give you the sense of accomplishment in creating a balanced lifepersonally and professionally.

    Before you know it, you will imperceptibly start to pull away from old disempoweringconversations, noting that even an ordinary day is aPrizefighter Dayon your individual pathof GREATNESS. On page 21, it is YOUR turn to build YOUR Prizefighter Day!

    Research shows that the most highly successful people wake up very early in themorning. Often times well before 8 a.m. as they are preparing themselves to be

    victorious for the day.

    What time do you currently wake up?

    One of the things that many authors and speakers are writing about today is givingindividuals a time that they should wake up. I don't believe in the type of coachingwhere someone is telling somebody what they need to do.

    YOUR Prizefighter Day Morning is all about identifying behaviors that will put you in aposition to be mentally prepared to take on your day. The most important aspect of thisis YOU choosing a new time to get up? The choice is yours.

    Whatever time you are currently getting up, ask yourself the question, if you were toget up 15 minutes earlier? 30 minutes earlier? And started building your habits to wakeup more intentionally, how would it impact your performance?

    If you take the example of somebody waking up 30 minutes earlier, on 5 work days in aweek, that individual would have an additional two and a half hours per week of timeto prepare. For an entire month, that is 10 additional hours, over an extra day of timethat person would have for driving their performance.

    The individuals who are organized and focused in their mornings are prepared to takeon their day, face adversity, challenge and create victories. YOUR Prizefighter DayMorning is all about identifying your ideal morning to put yourself on a path toperform irrespective of any obstacles or challenges that come your way.
