Use the Internet to research several ideas for your inspiration and begin your preliminary tasks (see next page).
Once you have created a preliminary design sketch, you will use AutoCAD to create your final floor plan.
Afterwards, in AutoCAD, create a final drawing which will include the following drawing specifications:
Label drawing – (ex. Room names and sizes, slopes etc.)
Dimensioning Correct layers and coloring standards. More specifications to follow…
Submit final drawing file, printed drawing, idea list and design sketches for marking.
Refer to in-class discussion and future handouts for other information required on the cottage drawings.

Your Task:Your task will be to research, design and draw your dream cottage plans. This will include drawing floor plans in AutoCAD.
Create a wish list for your dream cottage. Keep in mind the following limitations:
Cottage Specifications: 800 - 1500 sq ft. 2 – 4 bedrooms 1 bathroom Eat-in Kitchen Mud room Living room 1 Story building May have other
features and rooms. Clear plan with teacher prior to beginning.

Begin to draw house plans bubbles for each space or room keeping in mind the connection between the rooms or spaces. Think about where you will prepare food and where you will eat it. Do you want your living area and/or eating area open to your kitchen or completely

Preliminary Drawings:
Once your bubble diagrams are complete and you have selected the plan you are going to progress with, it’s time to draw a more detailed floor plan. This preliminary drawing allows for the development of more spatial representations. This illustration will allow you to add your floor space/area up to find your overall square footage.
