Wojcik St. Joseph’s Polish Roman Catholic Church 10th & Liberty Streets in Camden, New Jersey Marks the 125th Anniversary of its Founding On Sunday, October 22, 2017, all members, friends and supporters of Historic St. Joseph’s Church are invited to attend the celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of its founding. The celebration begins with Mass at 10 AM followed by a luncheon at Tavistock Country Club. Both events will provide an opportunity for the people of St. Joseph’s Church to enjoy the company of members, friends and supporters and to mark another milestone in Polonia’s history. Since its founding in 1892, St. Joseph’s Church has proudly promoted the mission of a Polish Apostolate to parishioners in Camden as well as to its extended family and supporters living throughout the tri-state area. For the last 125 years, St. Joseph’s Church has highlighted the faith and traditions of the Polish people beginning with the introduction of Christianity in Poland in 966 AD. The term apostolate dates back to the time of the first apostles who were sent by Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations. Recently, Bishop Dennis Sullivan of the Camden Diocese announced the expanded role of St. Joseph’s Church as the Polish Apostolate for the entire Diocese of Camden. The people of St. Joseph’s Church will continue to highlight the faith, language, traditions, heritage, music and community spirit of the Polish people. St. Joseph’s Church welcomes Polish Americans and their extended families and supporters to join together to highlight the faith and traditions of the Polish people, first documented over 1,051 years ago. During the 125th anniversary year, the people of St. Joseph’s Church will continue to participate in celebrations like the Pulaski Day Parade, Polish American Heritage Month in October and Polish traditions like Wigilia, Pasterka, Swieconka, celebrating such figures as St. John Paul II, Sr. Faustyna Kowalska, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Our Lady of Czestochowa, and the many special events held at St. Joseph’s Church throughout the year. The people of St. Joseph’s Church and the Polish Apostolate under the guidance of Fr. Krzysztof Wtorek, have been planning for the October 22nd anniversary celebration. Fr. Wtorek, Chaplain of the Polish American Heritage Association (PAHA) of Camden County, encourages all members of PAHA, church organizations, and supporters and friends of St. Joseph’s Church to celebrate this historic event. Fr. Wtorek says it is important that we remember all the good the founders accomplished 125 years ago and that we thank every supporter of St. Joseph’s Church who has helped maintain the church during the last 125 years as a place to honor God and unite his people. Everyone is invited to attend the Sunday 10 AM bilingual Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 10th & Liberty Street in Camden, NJ. You can also view the Sunday Mass from St. Joseph’s Church on the Internet from the Polish American Heritage Association of Camden County link at: PAHACamdenCounty.com or StJosephsCamdenNJ.com.
