Report from the Czech Republic

EUROCHIP 2

Z. Kamberska Varenna, 18.10.2007

Activities within Eurochip 2

• 1) Calculation of 5 year survival by region; in different regions by most frequent diagnoses

• 2) Calculation of 5 year survival of women with dg C50, with x without radiotherapy after surgery

• 3) Test of statistical correlation between MN and life style (data from HIS in CR)

• 4) Participation in Pilot Studies

Z. Kamberska Varenna, 18.10.2007

Differences between regions

• Each region has “good“ and “bad“ survival rates in different diagnoses

• We could not find “better” and “worse regions”• Only Prague Region is the best in all diagnoses

Z. Kamberska Varenna, 18.10.2007

Calculation of survival rate after surgery (dg C50)

Statistically highly significant difference in survival was only found in stage 1, already on level 0.1 %. On the contrary, in higher stages (2 – 4) radiotherapy has no statistically significant influence on the probability of survival.

Problems with Pilot Study

• Conversion of Czech form to form of Pilot Study• Entry of 300 cases according to form is not only

time consuming, but has hight probability of error. It has to be done manually

• Sugestion: to improve data entry – it can be done by computer – but we need structure of record

Future

• Very difficult situation in our Institute– Number of personnel was cut to one half

– Due to serious problem with results from Eurocare study, we are not allowed to present any data from Cancer Registry until the data are cleared by Board of Czech Oncological Society

I shall be retired at the end of this year and my successor will be Lenka Jurickova
