Before you begin, you will need: Your library card number and PIN An email address A device capable of loading apps, such as a tablet or smart phone Google Play Store account or iTunes account Note: The Zinio for Libraries app is only a tool to read eMagazines. All eMagazines must first be borrowed and checked out via the Lake Mac Libraries website, where you must also create a free account. This can be done either on a PC or your mobile device by visiting: http://library.lakemac.com.au/ecollections/emagazines Refer to the “Zinio eMagazines user guide” on the website for instructions on how to browse and borrow from the Library’s eMagazine collection. 1. Open the Google Play Store / Apple App Store on your device and search for Zinio. Download and install the free Zinio for Libraries app. Note: you will also see an app simply called Zinio - this app provides access to paid eMagazines on the Zinio store and is not required to access the free Library eMagazines. If you have previously purchased eMagazines from Zinio and have this app already, your Library eMagazines will automatically appear in this app, providing you use the same email address when you register on the Library’s eMagazine collection page. 2. Open the Zinio for Libraries app by tapping the icon on your home screen. Tap the Log In button, then tap on Australia in the country select menu. Tap on New South Wales, then scroll down and tap on Lake Macquarie. Note: Devices running Android use the Internet browser for the initial sign in. If you have problems loading the sign in page, please see troubleshooting instructions at the end of this document. 3. You will be prompted to enter your email address and password. These must match the account details you used to register on the Library’s eMagazine collection page. How to use the Zinio for Libraries app

3. Once you have successfully signed in, the next screen shows all the titles you have borrowed.

A cloud icon appears underneath titles that have not been downloaded yet.

Tap on a magazine cover to begin reading/downloading. Pages will become available as they download. Once the download has completed, the magazine is stored on your device and can be read without an internet connection.

To remove magazines from your device, tap the Edit button. Tap the X for each title you wish to delete, then tap Done.

4. While reading a magazine, swipe left and right to turn the pages. Tap in the centre of the screen to display a pop up navigation pane which lets you quickly scroll through pages.

Tap the X to close the magazine and return to your collection, or use the Back button on your Android device.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How to use the Zinio for Libraries app

1. How many eMagazines can I borrow? You can borrow as many as you would like, the only limitation is your download capacity and device storage. 2. How long do I have the eMagazine on loan for? There is no loan period limit and no need to return magazines. 3. How do I get new magazines into my Zinio App? You can download more magazines by visiting the Zinio website via the Lake Mac Libraries eMagazines page on the website (using either a PC or mobile device). Refer to the Zinio eMagazines user guide located on the Lake Mac Libraries eMagazines website. 4. How do I delete an eMagazine? You can delete magazines from your device from within the Zinio for Libraries app. From the Zinio home page, tap on Edit, tap the X either on or beside the title you wish to delete, then tap Done. To permanently delete magazines from your account, login with your account on https://www.rbdigital.com/lakemacquarie/service/zinio/landing Click on My Collection, click on the Trash Can icon beneath a title and confirm you with to remove it from your collection. 4. Can I read magazines on my device? At this time, Zinio magazines can be read on an Apple or Android tablet or smart phone, Windows PC or laptop, and Apple Mac. 5. Do I need an internet connection to read magazines on my device?

An Internet connection is required when borrowing and checking out a magazine via the Lake Mac Libraries website, and to download the magazine to your device. Once you have successfully downloaded your magazine you can read without an internet connection.

TROUBLESHOOTING Sign in problems on Android devices.

After you have installed the Zinio for Libraries app on your Android device and attempt to sign in for the first time, you may see the error message below: To resolve this issue, tap OK, then tap in the Internet browser address field. You need to change the beginning of the address from “https” to “http”, so delete the “s” and tap Go on the keyboard to load the correct address.

This should load the correct page as below. Follow the prompts to select Lake Macquarie library and enter your account details to sign in.
