Bullying – No Way! Here at WHPS we are passionate about making sure our school is a fun, nurturing and safe environment. On Friday 16th March the students and staff stood united to celebrate National Day of Action against Bullying. On this day students were involved in many discussions on what bullying is, the effects of bullying, the roles of bystanders and the difference between ‘dobbing’ and ‘reporting’. We also introduced a whole school approach to develop problem-solving strategies for our students. The Hi-5 Anti Bullying Model is a 5-step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents.

Step 1 Ignore Step 2 Talk Friendly Step 3 Walk Away Step 4 Talk Firmly Step 5 Report

The students took part in role plays to practise each step, brainstormed the people available for them to speak to if they are in such situations and worked hard to create a school mural reflecting the strategies.
