So, What’s holding you back?

• Time commitment?• Don’t know what to say?• Overwhelmed?• Don’t like to write?

Page 10: Advanced Social Media

First of all…

You have to have a goal.

I like Facebook and everything, but I’m just spinning my wheels if I don’t have a goal. Sure, I like writing a blog, but am I writing for fun, or am I writing to gain something?

Social Media

IS NOT A MAGIC BULLET

Page 12: Advanced Social Media

You need to know what you’re talking about.

• What is something you could talk forever about?

• What are you passionate about?• What is your value to the world?

How to use your blog effectively:

• Be the SOURCE for your target demographic.• Reviews of news articles, videos, government

mandates, housing costs, neighborhood trends- other people’s blogs- are all perfectly acceptable blog topics.

Traffic Ideas:

• Here’s what we do-• Use Twitter and Facebook to talk about your

blog (remember that wheel?)• Have Share buttons, Twitter widgets, and

Facebook Badges. Allow users to share as they see fit

• Not ALL the time, but its ok to drop a line about the new blog post you wrote.

Page 24: Advanced Social Media

Leave Comments!

Piggyback your blog by using someone else’s hard work!

When you get a comment…- That person very likely will be addressing a

larger sentiment.- Feedback is awesome.

Traffic Tips

Write interesting content.(Billboards are useless if there is no store)

Read other blogs and leave comments(it’s a conversation, remember?)

Put your Blog URL on everything-

Page 26: Advanced Social Media

How do I get Twitter Followers?

• Register yourself on www.wefollow.com• Determine what 3 things you’re interested in

connecting with people on, and search for those people

• Make your bio accurate-– When you search for people to follow, it searches

through their bios…

DO NOT lock your profile. DO have a picture

Page 27: Advanced Social Media

This goes along with SEO-

Be available to be found, have great content, and engage in social media.

Make a time commitment- whether it’s 15 minutes a week or an hour a day- to be active on Facebook, Twitter, or writing a blog.

Page 28: Advanced Social Media

Also…

Basic blog sites (Wordpress.com, Blogger.com, etc.) are ok, but you have to take the training wheels off at some point. There’s so much more power with a Wordpress.org site

*PS- You can have as many blogs as you’d like. I have 4.*
