Afternoon Tea

– Afternoon tea, also known as "low tea

– It is called so because of the tables used

they are lower than a dining table

– Served at 4 in the afternoon

– Tea, coffee, freshly baked scones, tea sandwiches, and assorted

– This became popular about one hundred and fifty years ago when rich ladies invited their friends to their houses for an afternoon cup of tea

HIGH TEA

• Traditionally, high tea was a working class meal served on a high table at the end of the workday, shortly after five PM. It was a heavy meal of meat dishes (such as steak and kidney pie), fish dishes (such as pickled salmon), baked goods vegetables (such as potatoes or onion cakes),

• Same as afternoon tea with an addition of items such as grills,fish and meat dishes,salads,cold sweets

• Meat dishes consist of pies and pastries,fish dishes are usually fried or grilled
