Selected Collaboration ScenariosSelected data-centric scenarios (some generalized) of collaboration between Business, Business Architects (BA), and Information Architects (IA) based on input from several companies:

1. Plan major data solutions (e.g. EDW, MDM, Data Services) to support corporate objectives and data reuse o Business leaders – define business strategies and goals (such as increase membership, cross-sell, customer satisfaction)o BA – identify business capabilities that support the goals; develop roadmaps for these business capabilitieso IA – identify data domains, data capabilities and solutions that support the business capabilities; develop Information roadmaps that

maximize solution reuse across business capabilities

2. Maximize ROI on data quality, availability and security controlso BA – define business value and criticality of business processes and capabilities o IA – capture data usage across business processes and capabilities and recommend the cost-appropriate SLA based on all usageso Business data owners – validate the SLA recommendations

3. Leverage new data technologies for competitive advantage (e.g. Big Data for measuring customer sentiment on social media)

o Business leaders – identify potential business opportunitieso IA – research new data trends and propose data solutions to capitalize on opportunitieso BA – incorporate identified solutions into investments planning

4. Simplify IT portfolio for efficiency and business agilityo BA – initiate IT portfolio health assessment to support high-priority business capabilitieso IA - identify duplicative data stores and data-intensive applications that can be decommissioned to simplify the IT portfolioo Business Leaders – sponsor IT Portfolio optimization efforts

5. Enable BI self-service and report sharing across business areaso IA – provide a predefined list of data domains, establish common language via business glossary, define metadata processes to share

‘tribal’ knowledgeo BA – provide a predefined list of business capabilitieso Business report owners - map each sharable report to data domains and business capabilities to capture metadata for a BI Catalogo Business users - search the BI Catalog to find if reports they need already exist
