ThreeStepProcess:

Surveyroll-outandmanagement: Theon-line platformwasdeployedonOctober19acrossCERIClists.Thesurveywasalsodisseminatedbyoursupporting organizations.Aggregateresponsesweremonitored throughouttheprocess todetectanystatisticalanomaliesthat mightcontradictdistribution expectations(i.e.bygender,location,field and/orsectors).Several“survey pushes”wereinitiated to ensurearepresentativecohort.ThesurveyclosedonNovember20.
Whatwecansayaboutthefindings:Thesurveywascompletedby1,004careerserviceprofessionals. CERICexaminedthedemographicinformationtoassesstherepresentativenessofthesample.Itisouropinion thatthebreakdownfairlyrepresentsthecomposition ofthefieldanditsrespectivesectors.Asaconsequence, weareconfident thatthefindings provideareliablesnapshot ofthecareer serviceprofessional community inCanada.

1. Itthinkthatthevaluehasdiminishedduetoshrinkingfederalandprovinciallabourmarketbudgets.Ithinkthatcareerdevelopmentprofessionalshavenotbeenabletoproperlyarticulatetheirvaluetoindividualsandgovernments.Careermanagementisrespectedbybusinessbutcareerpractitionershavenotbeenlinkedtothepractice.
2. Mostlybecausemanyinthefieldarenotequippedtoofferprofessionaladvicebecausetheyarenotfullyknowledgeable.Thecareerservicesfieldhasbeendilutedbythosewhodon’thaveanacademicbackgroundinthesector.
