Scripture Corner:
THE MOST HOLY TRINITY First Reading: Exodus 34:4b‑6, 8‑9 The Lord appears to Moses on Mount Sinai and pro-claims to him that he Lord is a “merciful God...slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 13:11‑13 Paul exhorts the Corinthians to live in peace and harmony, and for the first time, invokes the Blessed Trinity. Gospel: John 3:16‑18 In this beautiful passage, Jesus tells Nicodemus that God loved his people so much that he “gave his only son.” Jesus reveals to Nicodemus that anyone who believes in him will not die but will enjoy life with him for all eternity.
THE 2018 MASS BOOK IS NOW OPEN

after the Mass.
Vacation Time
We are rapidly approaching the long awaited summer months, time for vaca-tions and breaking out of the daily rou-tine.
Now is the perfect time to try something new, ParishPay, our online giving program. St. Mary's expenses do not stop during vacation time and you can help support your parish all summer long… whether basking in the sun or sitting in the shade of your mountain hideaway. To get started go to
or use the link on the St. Mary's website. As always, thank you for all you do!
Abortion Legislation
Abortion proponents are pressing hard to pass legislation that would greatly expand late-term abortions in our state. This legislation would specifically permit late-term abortions for any reason including: allowing abortions of viable unborn infants, allowing non-doctors to perform abortions and removing all criminal penalties for forced abortions. Three Senators from Westchester County are co-sponsors of this bill: David Carlucci, George Latimer and Andrea Stewart-Cousins. The NYS Catholic Conference and the Archdiocese oppose this abortion legislation and are requesting parishioners to contact our NYS Senators, asking them to vote against it.
Members of St. Mary’s Respect Life Society will be outside at St. Mary’s Church after all this weekend’s Masses, distributing informational flyers and asking you to contact your local Senator, telling him of your opposition to this bill.
From the Desk of Fr. Duff
Trinity Sunday
Today is the feast of the Blessed Trinity, the day on which we celebrate the magnificent truth that God is a family of persons. God is not some awesome, neb-ulous power that created the universe and floats around out there somewhere in outer space. God is three persons, the first person is the Father, the sec-ond person is the Son. It is by means of these family names that God has revealed Himself to us because His life is essentially one of family-type relation-ships. Between Father and Son there is of course a bond, a bond of love. In God this bond is so perfect and complete that it is a person, the Holy Spirit. God the Father and God the Son from all eternity are locked in personal. Perfect love and companionship through the love that is the Holy Spirit.
What a wonderful reality the Blessed Trinity is. But God has not merely revealed this truth to us. He has also invited us to share in this family life. The inner circle of God’s family is not closed; it has been opened to us, and we have been called into it.
By our baptism we were born of God the Father. He really and truly became our Father on that day be-cause He gave us a share in His own divine life. God the Son became our brother because we became like Him. And the Father and the Son gave us a share in Their love by giving us the Holy Spirit, the bond of love that brings us into the inner family cir-cle. St. Paul gives witness to our share in God’s family: “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Sometimes we may feel that we want to be free of God and His parental commands and directions, as a child sometimes yearns for independence from pa-rental control. But deep down that is not what we really want. We want and need to belong, to have a deep personal relationship with others. Our human families are only the reflection of our eternal destiny which begins now in the church. For God has called us into the inner circle of His own family life, the Blessed Trinity.
Thank you for all you do,
Fr. Duff

Summer Dress Code With summer days soon upon us, the tendency to cool and casual attire is understandable. The Good Lord seeks not our perspiration but our reverent love and worship and with that princi-ple in mind, we have a few suggestions. Attire at Sunday Mass should always reflect our dignity as a Christian people exercising our Baptismal priesthood in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. A good rule of thumb is that our mode of dress should be that appropriate to a dignified sum-mer social occasion. To make one specific point: Short-shorts and flip flops, whether worn by men or women, are not appropriate attire at Mass. Having said this, all of us at St. Marys wish you a deserved respite during these “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.” Fr. Duff

The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death.
In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
