    DEFINE GOOGLE ADSENSE

    HISTORY

The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol," which refers to the number represented

by a 1 followed by one-hundred zeros. Google is a search algorithm that was based on word

meanings and built upon an underlying lexicon called WordNet.

Google provides huge range of advantages to its users. One of them is Google Adsense. Adsense

may be one of the fastest and easiest ways to monetize traffic to your web site whether you have products

or services for sale or you simply provide free content to your visitors.

Simply stated, Google Adsense enables website operators to place some code on their site that connects to

Googles ad server content database and pulls keyword-relevant advertising onto the web pages. Thewebmaster gets paid a percentage of the fee that Google receives from the advertiser every time a visitor

clicks on an ad There is no charge for the webmaster to participate in Adsense. All costs are covered by

the advertiser who participates in the Adsense sister program called AdWords.

    TYPES

    Adsense for search

A companion to the regular Adsense program, Adsense for search, allows website owners toplace Google search boxes on their websites. When a user searches the Internet or the websitewith the search box, Google shares any advertising revenue it makes from those searches withthe website owner. However the publisher is paid only if the advertisements on the page areclicked: Adsense does not pay publishers for mere searches.

    Adsense for mobile content

Adsense for mobile content allows publishers to generate earnings from their mobile websitesusing targeted Google advertisements. Just like Adsense for content, Google matchesadvertisements to the content of a websitein this case, a mobile website.

    Adsense for domains

Adsense for domains allows advertisements to be placed on domain names that have not beendeveloped. This offers domain name owners a way to monetize domain names that are otherwisedormant. Adsense for domains is currently being offered to some users, with plans to make itavailable to all in stages.

Adsense for video allows publishers with video content to generate revenue using ad placementsfrom Google's extensive Advertising network including popular YouTube videos.

    DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAYPAL AND WESTERN

    UNION

    HISTORY OF WESTERN UNION

In 1851, the New York & Mississippi Valley Printing Telegraph Company was organized inRochester by Hiram Sibley and others, with the goal of creating one great system with unifiedand efficient operations. Meanwhile, Ezra Cornell (who would later found Cornell University)had bought back one of his bankrupt companies and renamed it the New York & Western UnionTelegraph Company. Originally fierce competitors, by 1855 both groups were finally convincedthat consolidation was their only alternative for progress. The merged company was named TheWestern Union Telegraph Company at Cornell's insistence and Western Union was born.

WESTERN UNION TRANSACTION FEE FOR DEMESTIC PAYMENTS

    Maximum payment amount:

Electronic Payments: Your transaction limit is established as your account is activated. Themaximum amount you are able to send is based on approval by our credit department.Cash Payments: There is a per transaction limit of $5,000 US. For a small number of countriesthislimit may be lower.

Western Union transaction fees are based on the following:

Payment method for sending funds (wire, cash, EFT).

Denomination the funds are paid out in (USD or other currencies). Whether the payment is domestic or international.

Transaction fees are lower for transactions paid out in a non-U.S. Dollar currency.

    HISTORY OF PAYPAL

The current incarnation of PayPal is the result of a March 2000 merger

between Confinity and X.com. Confinity was founded in December 1998 by Max Levchin, PeterThiel, Luke Nosek, and Ken Howery, initially as a Palm Pilot payments and cryptography

company. X.com was founded by Elon Musk in March 1999, initially as an Internet financial

services company. Both Confinity and X.com launched their websites in late 1999. Both

companies were located on University Avenue in Palo Alto. Confinity's website was initially

focused on reconciling beamed payments from Palm Pilots with email payments as a feature and

X.com's website initially featured financial services with email payments as a feature.

    SECURITY KEY

In early 2006, PayPal introduced an optional security

key as an additional precaution against fraud. A user

account tied to a security key has a modified login

process: the account holder enters their login ID and

password, as normal, but is then prompted to press the

button on the security key and enter the six-digit number generated by it. This two-factor

authentication is intended to prevent an account from being compromised by a malicious third

party without access to the physical security key. However, the user (or malicious third party)

can alternatively authenticate by providing the credit card or bank account number listed on their

account. Thus, the PayPal's implementation does not offer the security of true two-factor

    authentication.

PAYPAL TRANSACTION FEE FOR DEMESTIC PAYMENTS

    Sending money

It's always free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank

account. Fees apply only if the sender uses a credit or debit card, or if you receive any payment

for goods or services. There are also:

No monthly fees to maintain a PayPal account. No setup fees. No gateway fees. No fees for multiple eBay and merchant tools.

    Receiving purchase payments

The standard rate for receiving payments for goods and services is 2.9%.

If you receive more than $3,000.00 USD per month, you're eligible to apply for PayPal'sMerchant Rate - which lowers your fees as your sales volume increases. Your fees can be as lowas 1.9%, based on your previous month's sales volume.

Purchase payments received (monthly)Fee per transaction

    $0.00 USD - $3,000.00 USD 2.9% + $0.30 USD

    $3,000.01 USD - $10,000.00 USD 2.5% + $0.30 USD

    DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONLINE

    AND OFFLINE TRANSACTIONS

    Online Debit System (ONLINE TRANSACTIONS)

Online debit cards require electronic authorization of every transaction and the debits arereflected in the users account immediately. The transaction may be additionally secured with thepersonal identification number (PIN) authentication system and some online cards require suchauthentication for every transaction, essentially becoming enhanced automatic teller machine(ATM) cards. One difficulty in using online debit cards is the necessity of an electronicauthorization device at the point of sale (POS) and sometimes also a separate PINpad to enter thePIN, although this is becoming commonplace for all card transactions in many countries.Overall, the online debit card is generally viewed as superior to the offline debit card because ofits more secure authentication system and live status, which alleviates problems with processinglag on transactions that may only issue online debit cards.

    Offline Debit System (OFFLINE TRANSACTIONS)

Offline debit cards have the logos of major credit cards (e.g. Visa or MasterCard) or major debitcards (e.g. Maestro in the United Kingdom and other countries, but not the United States) and areused at the point of sale like a credit card (with payer's signature). This type of debit card may besubject to a daily limit, and/or a maximum limit equal to the current/checking account balancefrom which it draws funds. Transactions conducted with offline debit cards require 23 days tobe reflected on users account balances. In some countries and with some banks and merchant

service organizations, a "credit" or offline debit transaction is without cost to the purchaserbeyond the face value of the transaction, while a small fee may be charged for a "debit" or online

debit transaction (although it is often absorbed by the retailer). Other differences are that onlinedebit purchasers may opt to withdraw cash in addition to the amount of the debit purchase (if themerchant supports that functionality); also, from the merchant's standpoint, the merchant payslower fees on online debit transaction as compared to "credit" (offline) debit transaction.

HOW DOES E-COMMERCE SUPPORT THE OFFLINE

    TRANSACTION

The obvious benefit to an off-line transaction is avoiding small monthly fees. If you already have

a credit card terminal, you can use your website to capture orders and then you can manually

process the credit card information. Although this is a slow process, if you have low sales

volume it could be a temporary solution.

    WRITE NOTE ON FOLLOWING TOPICS

    1) ONLINE BANKING 2) VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK 3) BROADBANDTELECOMMUNICATION.

    ONLINE BANKING

    HISTORY

The precursor for the modern home online banking services were the distance banking services

over electronic media from the early 1980s. The term online became popular in the late '80s and

referred to the use of a terminal, keyboard and TV (or monitor) to access the banking system

using a phone line. Home banking can also refer to the use of a numeric keypad to send tonesdown a phone line with instructions to the bank. Online services started in New York in 1981

when four of the citys major banks (Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical and Manufacturers

Hanover) offered home banking services using the videotex system. Because of the commercial

failure of videotex these banking services never became popular except in France where the use

of videotex (Minitel) was subsidised by the telecom provider and the UK, where the Prestel

    system was used.

    SECURITY

Protection through single password authentication, as is the case inmost secure Internet shopping sites, is not considered secureenough for personal online banking applications in some countries.Basically there exist two different security methods for onlinebanking.

The PIN/TAN system where the PIN represents a password, used for the login and TANsrepresenting one-time passwords to authenticate transactions. TANs can be distributed indifferent ways, the most popular one is to send a list of TANs to the online banking user

by postal letter. The most secure way of using TANs is to generate them by need using asecurity token. These token generated TANs depend on the time and a unique secret, stored in the security token (this is called two-factor authentication or 2FA). Usuallyonline banking with PIN/TAN is done via a web browser using SSL secured connections,so that there is no additional encryption needed.

Signature based online banking where all transactions are signed and encrypted digitally. The Keys for the signature generation and encryption can be stored on smartcards or anymemory medium, depending on the concrete implementation.

    VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK

    HISTORY

Until the end of the 1990s the computers in computer networks connected through veryexpensive leased lines and/or dial-up phone lines. It could cost thousands of dollars for 56kbpslines or tens of thousands for T1 lines, depending on the distance between the sites.

Virtual Private Networks reduce network costs because they avoid a need for many leased linesthat individually connect to the Internet. Users can exchange private data securely, making theexpensive leased lines redundant.

VPN technologies have myriad protocols, terminologies and marketing influences that definethem. For example, VPN technologies can differ in:

The protocols they use to tunnel the traffic Whether they offer site-to-site or remote access connectivity The levels of security provided The OSI layer they present to the connecting network, such as Layer 2 circuits or Layer 3

    network connectivity.

    SECURITY MECHANISMS

Secure VPNs use cryptographic tunneling protocols to

provide confidentiality by blocking intercepts andpacket sniffing, allowing sender authentication toblock identity spoofing, and provide message integrityby preventing message alteration.

Secure VPN protocols include the following:

IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) was originally developed for IPv6, which requires it.This standards-based security protocol is also widely used with IPv4. L2TP frequentlyruns over IPsec.

Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS), is used in Cisco's next-generation VPN

product, Cisco AnyConnect VPN, to solve the issues SSL/TLS has with tunneling TCPover TCP.

Microsoft's Microsoft Point-to-Point Encryption (MPPE) works with their PPTP and inseveral compatible implementations on other platforms.

Microsoft introduced Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) in Windows Server 2008and Windows Vista Service Pack 1. SSTP tunnels Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) or L2TPtraffic through an SSL 3.0 channel.

    BROADBAND TELECOMMUNICATION

The term broadbandrefers to a telecommunications signal of greater bandwidth, in some sense, than another standard or usual signal. Different criteria for "broad" have been applied in differentcontexts and at different times.

    IN TELECOMMUNICATION

Broadbandin telecommunications refers to a signaling method that includes or handles arelatively wide range (or band) of frequencies, which may be divided into channels orfrequencybins.Broadbandis always a relative term, understood according to its context. The wider (orbroader) the bandwidth of a channel, the greater the information-carrying capacity. In radio, forexample, a very narrow-band signal will carry Morse code; a broader band will carry speech; astill broader band is required to carry music without losing the high audio frequencies requiredfor realistic sound reproduction. A television antenna described as "broadband" may be capableof receiving a wide range of channels; while a single-frequency or Lo-VHF antenna is"narrowband" since it only receives 1 to 5 channels. In data communications a digital modemwill transmit a datarate of 56 kilobits per seconds (kbit/s) over a 4 kilohertz wide telephone line(narrowband or voice band).

    IN DSL (DIGITAL LINE SUBSCRIBER)

The various forms of digital subscriber line (DSL) services arebroadbandin the sense that digital information is sent over ahigh-bandwidth channel (located above the baseband voicechannel on a single pair of wires).

    IN ETHERNET

A baseband transmission sends one type of signal using a medium's full bandwidth, as in100BASE-T Ethernet. Ethernet, however, is the common interface to broadband modems such asDSL data links, and has a high data rate itself, so is sometimes referred to as broadband. Ethernetprovided over cable modem is a common alternative to DSL

    IN POWER-LINE COMMUNICATION

Power lines have also been used for various types of data communication. Although somesystems for remote control are based on narrowband signaling, modern high-speed systems usebroadband signaling to achieve very high data rates. One example is the ITU-T G.hn standard, which provides a way to create a high-speed (up to 1 Gigabit/s) Local area network usingexisting home wiring (including power lines, but also phone lines and coaxial cables).
