Duct Cleaning
Duct Cleaning
McMahon Services has developed
a proven, patented and unique
solution to clean asbestos
contamination from ductwork
Duct Cleaning
Background
A hidden risk within hundreds of buildings in Australia is asbestos and biological
hazards/dust contamination originating from air conditioning systems.
During the 1960’s and 70’s many buildings were sprayed with asbestos to insulate
the structural steel from deformation during a fire, and the spray was at times
inadvertently directed into air conditioning ductwork. In addition, heater coils within
the ductwork were often insulated with friable asbestos board.
The Solution
The McMahon Services duct cleaning system has successfully completed more
than 100 major asbestos duct cleaning projects across Australia.
The patented cleaning system uses a purpose designed and constructed Ceiling
Access Unit and a unique Cleaning System.
Key Benefits
f The mobile self-contained work area enables cleaning to be undertaken safely,
without the need to establish large enclosures, which are disruptive to tenants
f The patented process ensures superior surface cleaning with no re-working of
areas and eliminates the need to introduce harmful chemicals into the duct to
seal surface residue
f The process enables up to 20 metres to be cleaned in one set-up, via a
single access panel, therefore maintaining the strength and integrity of the air
conditioning system
f Our remote controlled camera inspection equipment facilitates fast, efficient
and thorough inspection with accompanying video record to demonstrate all
asbestos has been removed
CapabilityPlant and Equipment
Ceiling Access Unit
A mobile work unit comprising a
ceiling access work chamber and
decontamination chamber, without
requiring the construction of large
protective enclosures.
The unit ensures the operator is in a safe
environment and not subject to high
pressure air and asbestos fibres.
Cleaning System
A powerful radial blower unit couples
to two pre-filters and a final HEPA filter
ensure that the duct remains under
negative pressure throughout the
cleaning process.
Advanced Video Inspection System
The McMahon Services video inspection
equipment includes the R.I.C.O EHS.
Unlike other remote inspection cameras,
the EHS model is the first camera to
use digital transmission technology that
permits the camera to be accurately
steered within an air conditioning duct.
