Establishing Expert Website Credibility
● Insufficient credibility can completely undermine your marketing plan.
● People simply won't share content that they don’t think is credible.
● You will build credibility by indicating to the reader that you can actually be trusted.
● Everybody knows how important their credibility is, but rarely do you see ideas about how to build it.
Build Credibility
● You will build credibility by indicating to the reader that you can actually be trusted. ● The signals of trust might come from the author, the website,
or from the content itself.● Each signal will appeal to a different type of reader, in a
different context, but in the end, they will all come together to make credible content that can easily be shared.
To establish expert credibility
● you have to have knowledge that others don’t.People want to listen to experts that they can understand and trust.
● This is especially true when they are faced with trying to understand something complex or ambiguous, like new engineering, technology, advanced science, or even law.
● Instead of trying to fake knowledge that you don’t have, try to find experts and then incorporate their expertise into your post.
● Journalists have used this tactic for decades. ● Even journalists who might be experts in a particular field
will use quotations from other experts when they report in news and analysis pieces.
Citing sources
● Citing sources is another key to establishing your credibility.● It’s the most obvious way to back up your claims and for you
to gain trust. ● Citing a source is often as simple as just linking to the
particular webpage where you got your information.
• Write clearly and hire writers. Don't waste your time trying to create content. Even the most credible expert will have a hard time unless they can write clearly with native-level grammar.
• Put together author profiles, and use full names with images of the author. Build a full section about your company and be as specific as you can, avoiding vague statements about your site’s value.
• Design headlines that are easy to follow, and avoid cute or trick headlines about what the content will deliver.
• Be sure that you are consistent with surrounding articles. Jumbling topics and unrelated surrounding articles can make your site look inconsistent.
