Ihavebeenpractisinghotyogasince2011,andovertimeIhavenoticedsubtlechangesinmybodyandmostimportantlyinmyself.Physicallymyposture,mobilityandstrengthhavegreatlyimproved, whilst mentally and emotionally I have become calmer andmore focused. I findmyselfableto“liveinthemoment”forthefirsttimeever,andthatisnomeanfeat.Afterclasssometimeagoa fellowyogi Ihadnotseen forawhilesaid“Lorenzo,youhavetransformedyourself”andIthought“thanks I’ll takethat” Imean,tofeelthatyou’reontherighttrack isonethingbuttohaveafriendobserveitmakesitallmoreworthwhile.

On the Physical side this yoga practice has helped me recover from a debilitating injury Isustained6monthsagowhilstsnowskiing.Iwasalwaysbulletproofinmyprimeandnevergotinjured; IusedtocarveupmyhomemountainofFallsCreekalmosteveryweekendwithoutincident.ButlastwinteronmyannualpilgrimageIfoundoutthatat45Iwasnolongerbulletproof, I took a bad fall and partially toremymedial and posterior cruciate ligaments, withdamagetootherkneestructures.Icouldbarelywalkforamonthandhadintensivephysiofor6 weeks. The physio wantedme to do hot yoga 2-3 times per week for rehabilitation. Theproblemwasitwasreallyhardtodoaregularpracticewithmoststudiosturningtheirbacksonthe90minformat.Ipracticedonceaweekbutitjustwasn’tenough.SinceBikramOriginalHotYoga Perth opened in January I have been practicing 3 times a week and the injury hasimproved100%.ThedeeppenetratingheatfromtheFARInfraredpanelsgetsdeepintomuscletissueandreallyallowsyoutogetthosedeep,therapeuticbenefits.IfeelIamnowontheroadtorecoveryandI’mgratefulforthat.

I’mactuallyreallyexcitedthatthisstudiohasopened,theheatisgreatandtheownersBinny&Nickhavebeen really helpfulwithmypractice. I think that asmore andmorepeople comebacktothispracticewewillseethatthestudiobecomeslikeasecondhomeformanyofus.It’sa really good space and sometimes I like to hangout andhave a chatwithother yogis afterclass.

I really like this practice, I mean let’sfaceitthe90minoriginalBikramseriesisawesome.After6yearsIstilllovetheOriginal 26 postures and 2 breathingexercises and it’s great that you get100%benefitseverystepoftheway.

MostofallthisYogapracticemakesmefeelhappy,andthat’swhat I likeaboutitthemost.
