A nose for a good book ...
Welcome to Hogs Back Books and to our 2012 spring and summer brochure. We are excited to have just launched our O is for Olympics title to sit alongside L is for London (published in November 2011) in readiness for the 2012 Games.
Not only is L is for London the first ABC of the capital since 1880s, we have reinvented the format by providing many quirky and little known facts, which means it can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Once you’ve read about the marathon winner who sneaked a lift in a car or the rower who stopped to let a family of ducks pass his boat before going on to win gold - then you’ll sit down and watch this summer’s Games with renewed interest.

Standing on the back of giants ...
Our name is taken from the Hogs Back - a ridge of chalk which runs between Guildford and Farnham in Surrey. “Hogs Back” is thought to be derived from the ancient word “og” meaning “giant”. But rather than claiming to be a giant in publishing, we’ve adopted a pig’s snout as our logo and the phrase “a nose for a good book”. We try to select the very best stories and ideas and to match these with fresh and original illustrations to create picture books which inform and entertain young children.
So next time you are buying a book - sniff out Hogs Back Books!

All children love bubbles. Bella’s Bubble tells the story of an enormous bubble, which is whisked off on an exciting journey. Young children will be gripped with suspense as the bubble races across town, meeting danger at every point.
