Morning Assemblies
Our morning assemblies are a feature of the school. It is a great opportunity to send our students to class informed, posi ve and inspired to learn. Acknowledging and celebra ng birthdays is a tradi on at the school. Our students look forward to the whole school singing happy birthday to them.
This year we have our school Vice‐Captain Joah Mason playing guitar for us, with Eyrka Simpson and Moraya Southon as accompanying vocals. Of course, our backing vocals are the whole school, staff included.
To make the demands on these students reasonable we are singing birthdays for the week each Monday. Although those very excited kindergarten students, do make a strong case for an excep on on the day.

Cole Vouchers
A couple of parents have asked whether we are par cipa ng in the Coles Voucher Fundraiser for sports equipment. We have chosen not to par cipate, based on our previous experiences. On the two previous, we collected a considerable amount of vouchers for very li le sports equipment in return. It also asked schools to do significant administra on coordina ng the fundraiser.
Coffee Cake and Chat
Tomorrow is our first coffee, cake and chat morning for the year and it is combined with the regular P&C mee ng that was postponed on Wednesday. Please come along and join in the discussions—star ng me is 9.30am
I am out and about a lot over the next two weeks with a large por on of our staff undertaking professional development in cri cal and crea ve thinking on Tuesday. The remaining staff members did this professional learning in 2017 and this now means that we are one step closer to achieving our school goals in future focused learning. I am also out at a Principal’s Conference from Wednesday to Friday next week, but I am confident that I leave the school in the very capable hands of Ms Lewis and Mrs Watson.

Library News
Wow, what a great week of learning for all our li‐
brary users. Year 1 Tapalla and Year 2 Saillors have
been busy thinking up stories about their mini‐
beasts in prepara on for their anima ons. The
Stage 2 classes have been researching their Na on‐
al Parks and comple ng a project on Google class‐
room. I look forward to their final presenta ons.
The Year 5 and 6 classes are s ll preparing for their
trip to the goldfields and will embark on a journey
of discovery to Old Mogo Town on Monday. And
finally, K/1 Moona Moona and K Collingwood have
been very busy learning about the le er “F” and
were fascinated by the fossil collec on in the li‐
brary. Our budding palaeontologists got a first‐
hand look at some ancient relics and even took to
the task of drawing their favourite fossil. Next
week I am heading to Bateman’s Bay for a Crea ve
Thinking course so library lessons on Tuesday will
be disrupted but will resume as normal the follow‐
ing week. Keep reading! Mrs Hanson

Sports Report
Last Friday Huskisson played Vincen a in Round 1 of the State Knockout cricket at Francis Ryan Re‐serve, Sanctuary Point.
Vincen a won the toss and elected to bat first but with some good ght bowling the Husky boys made it difficult for Vincen a to score. A er drop‐ping a couple of early catches Husky li ed their efforts in the field and a er their 25 overs Vin‐cen a finished with 9 out for 48 runs. All bowlers performed well with Daniel Hylton‐Cummins (3 for 7), Joah Mason (2 for 5), Ryan Malecki (2 for 7), Archie Wilson (1 for 7) and Mason Lynch (1 for 10) all taking wickets while Hayden Fuller was unlucky not to sneak one, in his four very good overs.
Husky started their innings with steady ba ng by Daniel (13 re red) and Joah (15) who together put on 30 for the first wicket. The other batsmen all contributed to a final score of 85 by the end of the 25 overs with Ryan (14 re red) and Archie (7 re‐red) ba ng par cularly well.
Kegan Kinsky‐Barnes did an outstanding job as wick‐et keeper at his first a empt and Sebas an Ball was very ght in the field. Aaydan Dempsey, Nathan Ryan and Joel Kilmister also fielded well, with a de‐termina on to win and William Shadforth helped out as 12th man.
A great win to the Husky boys who now face Illaroo Road in the 2nd Round.
Many thanks to all the parents who provided transport and support for the team and a special thanks to Ken Choice who has given his me to training the boys and umpired on the day.
