He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.

Term 2 is always a very exciting time at school and very busy and tiring for both pupils and
teachers. It is a magical time seeing the P1s develop from the summer and gaining in confidence
and having a real sense of place – in the big school. The P7s have a one foot in the Academy, but
still engage with enthusiasm and rigour. There are music, crafts and singing reverberating
around the school and when one young P1 comes to your door and asks for directions for the
reindeer food you realise it’s Christmas.
A big credit to all the teachers and pupils for working so hard when everyone is a bit tired and
with so many illnesses going about. This week we had pupils entertaining at the Bennachie View
to the older members of our community and it was great to see the different generations
mixing.
Thank you to all the staff for the incredible dedication as always this term, the children for
working so hard on their progression jotters and profiling folders and to all the parents and
carers who are so supportive of the school and everything that we are trying to achieve.
Happy Christmas to everyone from Kellands and we wish you a Happy New
Year! See you all back to school on Wednesday 6th January 2016.

P4G Singing at Bennachie View
On Wednesday 16th December P4G visited the new Bennachie View Care Home to entertain the
residents with a range of Christmas songs and poems. The children enjoyed eating their packed
lunches with some of the people who live there before moving through to the lounge to perform.
After their concert the boys and girls gave handmade sock snowmen and Christmas cards to the
residents which were very much appreciated. P4G performed and behaved so well and were a
credit to Kellands School. They would like to thank the parent helpers on the day and are now
Volunteers Required
We are still looking for volunteers for our after school
badminton club on Wednesdays at 3.15pm and our evening
football for P1-3 at the Academy on Thursday nights. Without
any help these clubs will have to stop which would be a shame.
We also have running club at lunchtime on a Tuesday and
football on a Friday after school. If anyone would like to add a
helping hand or a clean pair of heels please get in touch with
the school.
Thank you for your help
looking forward to performing again at Kellands on Tuesday 22nd December to the whole school.

The Garioch Basketball Club
Daniel Munro, Steven Strachan and Mikey Nicoll took part in the Regional Development League
Tournament at the International School in Aberdeen. The Garioch Basketball Club have not had
an Under 12 team for a few years so a few parents have taken on the management of the team
to give them some game experience. Their coach Jack Conn was very impressed with the boys
performance too. They won both their games against Portlethen and Fraserburgh Storm which
are long established clubs. They behaved impeccably and had a really good attitude throughout.
They also looked after a couple of younger team members. They train on a Friday with Kenny
Gibb at the Active Schools Programme and on a Wednesday at Garioch B.C and are always
looking for new team members if anyone else is interested.
