Midi-Pyrénées Region’s experience in MNT-ERA.NET Network
CPMR WORKING GROUP ON REGIONSIN THE EUROPEAN RESEARCH AREA8 December 2009
Why MNT ERA-Net?
• Micro and nano technologies are key enabling technologies of the 21st century and the global market is growing rapidly.
• Europe has a strong R&D base in many MNT areas but its funding programmes are fragmented and dispersed among many national and regional funding bodies.
MNT ERA-Net stimulates close and long-term cooperatio n between national funding programmes (focusing on applied RTD) to improve and complement the European funding portfolio
What is MNT-ERA.NET ?
• A EU (FP6 & FP7) project• A large network of national & regional funding programmes for micro and nano technologies (MNT), each represented by a funding agency or ministry• Combined annual public budget of ca. 400 M€• A real tool to fund and stimulate near-to-market Micro and Nano Technologies for a highly competitive European industry
