that allows your phone to act as a scanner. You can scan virtually
any kind of document into it and then make a myriad of changes to
it. You can add watermarks, fill out forms, and even fax the
document (for a nominal fee). This is a great tool to have laying
around. Its not an every day app but when you need this app, itll
be there to help out. It even comes with built in optimizations to

Slide 19 What is Mobile Cloud Computing? Mobile cloud computing
(MCC) at its simplest, refers to an infrastructure where both the
data storage and data processing happen outside of the mobile
device.(MCC) Mobile cloud applications move the computing power and
data storage away from the mobile devices and into powerful and
centralized computing platforms located in clouds, which are then
accessed over the wireless connection based on a thin native
client. Slide 20 Why Mobile Cloud Computing? Mobile devices face
many resource challenges (battery life, storage, bandwidth etc.)
Cloud computing offers advantages to users by allowing them to use
infrastructure, platforms and software by cloud providers at low
cost and elastically in an on-demand fashion. Mobile cloud
computing provides mobile users with data storage and processing
services in clouds, obviating the need to have a powerful device
configuration (e.g. CPU speed, memory capacity etc), as all
resource-intensive computing can be performed in the cloud. Slide
21 MCC Popularity According to a recent study by ABI Research, more
than 240 million business will use cloud services through mobile
devices by 2015. That traction will push the revenue of mobile
cloud computing to $5.2 billion. Mobile cloud computing is a highly
promising trend for the future of mobile computing. Slide 22 MCC
Architecture Slide 23 Mobile devices are connected to the mobile
networks via base stations that establish and control the
connections and functional interfaces between the networks and
mobile devices. Mobile users requests and information are
transmitted to the central processors that are connected to servers
providing mobile network services. The subscribers requests are
delivered to a cloud through the Internet. In the cloud, cloud
controllers process the requests to provide mobile users with the
corresponding cloud services. Slide 24 Advantages of MCC Extending
battery lifetime: Computation offloading migrates large
computations and complex processing from resource-limited devices
(i.e., mobile devices) to resourceful machines (i.e., servers in
clouds). Remote application execution can save energy
significantly. Many mobile applications take advantages from task
migration and remote processing. Slide 25 Advantages of MCC
Improving data storage capacity and processing power: MCC enables
mobile users to store/access large data on the cloud. MCC helps
reduce the running cost for computation intensive applications.
Mobile applications are not constrained by storage capacity on the
devices because their data now is stored on the cloud. Slide 26
Advantages of MCC Improving reliability and availability: Keeping
data and application in the clouds reduces the chance of lost on
the mobile devices. MCC can be designed as a comprehensive data
security model for both service providers and users: Protect
copyrighted digital contents in clouds. Provide security services
such as virus scanning, malicious code detection, authentication
for mobile users. With data and services in the clouds, then are
always(almost) available even when the users are moving. Slide 27
Advantages of MCC Dynamic provisioning: Dynamic on-demand
provisioning of resources on a fine-grained, self-service basis No
need for advanced reservation Scalability: Mobile applications can
be performed and scaled to meet the unpredictable user demands

resources and costs to support a variety of applications and large

providers can be integrated easily through the cloud and the

Mobile Commerce: M-commerce allows business models for commerce
using mobile devices. Examples: Mobile financial, mobile
advertising, mobile shopping M-commerce applications face various
challenges (low bandwidth, high complexity of devices, security, )

Drive Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service
provided by Google, released on April 24, 2012, which enables user
cloud storage, file sharing and collaborative editing. Rumors about
Google Drive began circulating as early as March 2006. Files shared
publicly on Google Drive can be searched with web search engines.
As of October 2014, Google Drive had 240 million monthly active
users. Google Drive is the home of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides,
an office suite of productivity applications, that offer
collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations,

Google Drive, and Box: Which cloud storage service is right for
you? Slide 46 Slide 47 OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) Where it excels
OneDrive works seamlessly with Windows devices because it's baked
into the Windows operating systems running on PCs, tablets, and
Windows Phone. It's easy to open and edit files from OneDrive in
Microsoft's other applications, such as Word or the Photos app.
Since OneDrive is closely tied with Office, it's a good choice for
anyone who uses Office frequently. Where it falls flat If you don't
have all Windows devices, OneDrive doesn't have as much appeal.
There are apps for other devices, but it's clear that OneDrive is
really meant for the Windows set. Slide 48 Dropbox Where it falls
flat In my experience, Dropbox's Web site design is one of the
weakest of the cloud storage services. It's simple and clean, but
you can't control the way your files are displayed. However, you do
get many more sharing options on the Dropbox Web site, which almost
makes up for the bare bones design. Slide 49 Google Drive Where it
excels Google Drive requires very little setup if you already have
a Google account. What's more, if you use Gmail, it's easy to save
attachments from your e-mail directly to Drive with just a few
clicks. Where it falls flat While you can organize your files and
photos in Google Drive, there's no way to automatically upload
photos from your phone directly to the service. Instead, Google has
an Auto Backup feature in the Google+ mobile apps, which sends your
photos to your Google+ profile. I'd like for Google to create a
central space where I can store and upload all of my files that
combines the best of Google+'s photo editing features and Google
Drive's document editing tools. Slide 50 Box Where it falls flat
While anyone can sign up for a free individual account on Box, the
service's endless list of sharing and privacy features can be lost
on someone who's just using the service for personal storage.
Because of all those features, it can feel overwhelming to navigate
the Box Web site if you're only trying to manage a few files and
folders. Best for: Teams of employees working together on projects,
and large companies that need a place to securely share documents
with everyone. Slide 51 Copy Where it excels Copy is a simple,
fast, and solid cloud storage option. You get 15GB for free, and
the paid plans are inexpensive. Where it falls flat There's hardly
anything negative I can say about Copy, but I will say that, like
Dropbox, Copy's website is its weakest point. It's just not as easy
to navigate as the desktop and mobile apps. Best for: Anyone would
wants an impressive alternative to the more mainstream cloud
