Preamble:
Of the (Muslim Students’ Association) of _______________________ College:
The (Muslim Students’ Association) shall be a non-profit, non-political organization, with the
fundamental purpose being to encourage and enable both Muslim and non-Muslims with basic
knowledge and competence in Islam to contribute individually and collectively toward meeting
the needs of the community in conformity with the charitable teachings of Islam. It shall also be
the purpose of the Association to avoid any practices that are contrary to Islam and to create a
feeling of brotherhood and sisterhood among all members of society.
Article I – Name:
The name of organization shall be Muslim Students Association (MSA)
Article II – Purpose:
The aim and purpose of the MSA will be to serve the best interests of the Muslim and non-
Muslim students of ________________________ College, within the framework of Islam.
Towards this end, the MSA shall:
1. Promote unity and joint action among the Muslims on Campus.
2. Conduct religious, charitable, educational, cultural and service activities according to
Islamic tradition.
3. Arrange and hold congregational prayer and Islamic religious festivals at appropriate
times.
4. Promote healthy relations among Muslims and non-Muslims according to the guidelines
of Islam.
5. Endeavor to make Islamic teachings known to interested non-Muslims
Article III – Membership:
The general body of the MSA will consist of members as defined below:
Members are those who have met the following criteria, as interpreted by the Executive
Committee, which shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin,
disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, sex or age.
Must be a ________________ College student, staff, or faculty member
Must agree to adhere to all of the principles laid out in this charter and do their best to try
and follow decisions made by the Executive Committee.
If any of these above criteria are not fulfilled during the course of the membership, the
Executive Committee has the right to revoke a member’s membership.
Article IV – Hazing:
This organization shall not engage in any form of hazing. MSA complies with all State and
Federal laws and _________________ College policies on hazing, recognizing hazing to be any
action taken or situation created to inflict physical or mental discomfort, embarrassment,
harassment, or ridicule upon an individual or group. Further, the members of this organization
understand that any individual or group found responsible for hazing will be subject to
disciplinary action, which may result in probation, suspension, or revocation of SGA recognition.
Article V – Officers:
The Executive Committee of the MSA, which shall be elected for one year, will be as follows:

The President shall be responsible for:
The general management of all the activities of the MSA
Calling and presiding over meetings of the Executive Committee and the general student
members meeting
Establishing an efficient link between the MSA and MSA-National and between the
MSA and Central Mosque of Charleston, Masjid Al-Jami Ar-Rasheed, and the Islamic
Center of Charleston
Acting as or appointing a spokesperson, as and when required
Delegating responsibilities among the other officers;
Overseeing all projects being worked on by the officers;
Ensuring that all officers are active in fulfilling their responsibilities efficiently and
effectively
Ensuring good public relations with faculty and other student organizations, as well as the
student body in general
Ensuring good public relations with the Muslim community in the area
Responsible for dealing with _______________ College officials, meeting with them,
and answering their requests for various programs to further educate the institution about
Islam and the MSA.
The Vice President shall be responsible for:
Assisting the President in accomplishing the purpose of the Association.
Temporarily assuming the functions of the President when requested as such by the
president, or if the President is incapacitated, or in the absence of the President.
Engaging the MSA in various volunteer activities both for the Muslim and non-Muslim
communities of __________________ College and the surrounding areas.
Responsible for dealing with Trident Technical College officials, meeting with them, and
answering their requests for various programs to further educate the university about
Islam and the MSA.
The Treasurer shall be responsible for:
keeping track of club funds, maintain group roster including email addresses and
student identification numbers
Article VI – Finances: The guidelines for appropriating funds, collecting dues, and conducting fundraising activities
will comply with the rules and regulations outlined by _________________ College, as well as
complying with the law. Dues will be five dollars per member per semester. The Treasurer will
be responsible for collecting and managing dues, as well as other funds belonging to the club
accrued in any other manner.
Article VII – Elections:
Officers will be voted in by other MSA members; candidates may vote for themselves. The
elections will be held at the second meeting of each academic semester. Only members who are
present at the meeting will be able to vote. If required, candidates and incumbents will be
permitted to give a short 5 minutes speech before voting commences. The votes will be counted
by secret ballot.
Article VIII – Removal of Officers:
Officers will be removed if they do not complete their duties as outlined in Article V, or for
disorderly or indecorous conduct. Any member, who must submit a writer request for removal to
another officer, can initiate the process of removal. At the next group meeting, the complaint will
be heard, although the identity of the complainant will remain a secret known only to the officer
who received the letter. The group will vote as whole what action is to be taken after hearing a
defense.
Article IX – Advisor:
The advisor shall be a member of the faculty or staff at ________________ College
The advisors role shall be that of a consultant in regards to all affairs administrative.
He/she shall provide guidance and support for the organization
Article X – Amendments:
This Constitution shall be amended by the executive board. Amending the Constitution
requires a two-thirds majority of the members present. Any member can propose
Constitutional amendments.
A record shall be kept of all proposed amendments including the voting date, and voting
outcome (number of yeas and nays). Any accepted amendment shall be noted in the
Constitution itself as to its adoption date.
