National Softball Association of the Deaf Softball Council Meeting at Dallas, Texas
August 14, 2011 at 8:22 a.m. NSAD Secretary made a roll call: NSAD Officers: Commissioner Vance Rewolinski, Deputy Commissioner Paige Thompson-Matzler, Secretary Sheri Mize, Treasurer Pat Kinast, Softball Information and Director Kevin Ryan. ESAD-Frank Allnutt and Scott Bradley (Late) FAAD-Mark Corson MAAD-Barbara Nacarelli NEAAD-Bruce Beston and Brendan Ward (late) NWSAD-Saul Gevarter, Rod Jex, Kristen Morin/Tara Lanning (ALT) SSAD-Jimmy Miller SWSAD-Chris Reagle, Donna Fine and Kevin Soward (late) Carl Seabaugh (incoming SSAD Commissioner) as observer Commissioner’s report: used his press box's comments At first Hebert Picou and other officers were not that thrilled but changed their view and were glad that it happened here that helped boosting their economy. He apologized that he didn’t have a chance of distributing the final edition of Dugout newsletter due to being worn out after the end of the day during the tournament. Possible future tournament site: 2015 at St. Louis While he observed the tournament, there were several intentional walk (IW) on both teams - should have a double base if issued an intentional walk. There was a complaint against Carolinas team - 4 players; we decided that we requested SSAD to test all players via audiograms. ESAD filed their complaint that CAAD didn't communicate with ESAD about the territory, they passed and there was about 1/3 of Pennsylvania. Felt that CAAD should extend their probation due to the reason that CAAD didn't abide. Disrespected people here at the hotel, need to ask regional commissioners to share the concerns for the future tournament site (hotel). Concerned about Las Vegas - the fields will close at 4 pm. Round Robin format with single eliminated? He asked the audience how they feel. Deputy Commissioner’s report -based on The Press Box’s comment.
Secretary’s report It was good to be back and worked with NSAD again. Treasurer’s report 3 years ago, he transferred some fund and put them in checking and saving accounts separately. Finance report: via LCD During the time, he explained each revenue and expenses. Frank Allnutt suggested that he separated from the expenses on spending IRS fines and CPA instead of included in contract labor. Sponsors from last year - none due to FCC issues. This year, we have received some sponsors this year. Few members asked for some clarify on spending the expenses on travel; he expanded the break down and explained. Explained the different categories of tournament and general fund. Concerned about insurances, Vance explained the solution and need to search for a better insurance. Tournament Games expenses tended to be in a minus. Pat even displayed the unofficial finance report of the Dallas tournament - good news. The year of 2010 was the bad ones but that will be better for next year. Registration booth - good rapport with committee members, worked with 10 D.A.D. committee members - very smooth. 3 Auditors - a letter from the auditors in a good standing. Struggled with insurance expenses. Done reporting to IRS with 990-ez forms, Bruce Beston advised NSAD that IRS would monitor someday to clean out all organizations. Be sure that we related to by-laws, should be no problem. Wanted to express the compliment that Pat has the mode of catching up and is currently in good standing. Softball Information Director’s report: Completed all stats on time and posted on website. Thanks to Paige for her MAAD software to transit into smooth of the stats on timely manner.
Vance's comment on finance relating to stats crews, we could rely without stats crew? That would save the cost. Stopped at 9:41 a.m. for a short break and will resume at 10:00 a.m. Resumed at 10:09 a.m. 1. The minutes from the Softball Council meeting of 2010 accepted as it reads with some correction to be made: Misspelling of Mark Corson and James Leek, added Pat Kinast as elected Treasurer, corrected female representative instead of women representative also male representative. Several typo of some region. 2. The minutes from the executive board meeting accepted as it reads. 3. The minutes from the emergency meeting with Jimmy Miller, SSAD accepted as it reads. 4. The minutes from Boards of Director meeting accepted as it reads with a correction of NEAAD should be 367 plus instead of minus. Also SSAD should be 525.
