KENNEBEC TOWN BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Kennebec Town Board of Trustees met in scheduled session on September 14, 2020 at the Main Street Plaza Suite 5. Present, Todd Longville, Hunter Schindler; Eugene Mertens; and Rod Bowar. Absent Jared Schelske. Also present was Sarah Caslin, Finance Officer and Charlie Gran, City Superintendent and Amy Jo Janssen of Janssen Law.
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order by Chairman Longville at 7:03 pm.
MOTIONS: All motions are approved unanimously unless otherwise noted.
PUBLIC: No Public time. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion by Bowar seconded by Mertens to approve the August 3, 2020 regular meeting minutes.

PERMITS: Motion by Bowar seconded by Schindler to approve Trusty Mertens 2 building permits, Mertens abstained. Motion by Mertens seconded by Bowar to approve Clayton Moore’s building permit. Motion by Bowar second by Mertens to approve Eric & Deb
Halverson building permit. Motion by Mertens seconded by Schindler to approve Tate Wagner application to be a volunteer fire fighter. Motion by Mertens seconded by Schindler to accept B&B Oil propane quote of $0.7750 per gallon for the winter season.
OLD BUSINESS: Motion by Bowar seconded by Schindler to call and have Broz Engineering to come and survey Railroad land. Cell Tower Request was updated by Janssen and Motion by Mertens seconded by Schindler to approve the Cell Tower lease per legal counsel recommendation. Motion by Mertens seconded by Schindler to approve a $15,000 to get the clinic a filtration Hood, countertop, and new doors. Ordinance No. 2021-1 Appropriations Ordinance by given its seconded reading. Said ordinance was read in full. Thereupon Mertens moved, seconded by Schindler that said ordinance be adopted and published. Motion by Schindler, seconded by Bowar to certify the max amount of property tax levy for general purposes for 2021: $84,779.00.
NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Schindler seconded by Bowar to add another electric pedestal out at Lake Byre. Electronic board in front of the library will now be serviced by the new librarian, meaning that if you would like something on the board please contact Kennebec Library.
COUNCIL COMMETS: EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Lady Raiders face off
against Sully Buttes

The volleyball team went on the road this week to challenge Sully Buttes. All three sets were close but the Raider girls were not able to gain the lead. The Chargers took the win with the scores 19-25, 13-25, and 20-25.

The Lyman Raider football team loaded up two buses and headed west to face Rapid City Christian on Friday, September 18. Quarterback Teagan Gourneau set the pace for the night with a two yard run for the first touchdown of the night. He then added two more points with a pass to Tyson Floyd making the score 8-0. The Lady Raiders recently competed against the 11th ranked team in Class A, the Winner Lady Warriors. The action took place at the Lyman Gardens on Tuesday night, September 15. The girls struggled at the beginning of the game with the scores in the first two sets being 8-25. However, they put on a show in the last set and the final score ended at 17-25. Senior starter, Drew Lulf says, “I am proud of how hard we worked as a team in the last set, and how we played up to their level.”

Students judge plants and soil

AFNR and Animal Science classes ventured down to the Cooper school grounds, five miles south of Reliance, on Tuesday September 15. They joined students from several other towns for a Land and Range Judging contest where they learned about different plants and types of soil.
Morgan Schelske said, “I enjoyed looking at plants in the morning.”

end zone. Gourneau then ran the ball for two extra points, adding eight more points to the score. The Comets answered back with a successful touchdown and extra points.
With a close score at halftime, the Raiders knew they had a job to complete. First, Collins ran for five yards and caught a pass from Declan Cleveland for an eight-point play. Next, he ran again for a six-yard touchdown, and a pass from Gourneau to Sam McClanahan gave the Raiders a lead of 32-14. The Comets completed one more touchdown for the night, but it wasn’t enough to pull ahead. With 8:23 left in the fourth quarter, Collins ran in a 36-yard touchdown. Gourneau finished off the night by running in a three yard touchdown and a successful two point conversion. The Raiders headed home happy after defeating the Comets 46-20.

Lady Raiders get a win

The Lyman girls faced off against the Bennet County Warriors at home on Saturday, Sept. 19. Winning three close games led to a victory for the Lady Raiders. The teams were neck and neck in the four set match with scores as follows 25-17, 14-25, 25-21, and 25-21. The JV team lost in three sets and the C-team won in two.
