STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Senior consultants and consult-ants working in Health Department underDirectorate of Jammu expressed concernover the advertisement published in thelocal dailies regarding the requirement ofretired faculty for fulfilling the faculty posi-tion of professor and associate professor inthe newly created medical colleges.

Pertinent to mention here that theGovernment of India created five new med-ical colleges in State of Jammu andKashmir at Rajouri, Kathua and Doda inJammu Division and Anantnag andBaramulla in Srinagar Division.

In a statement issued here on Sunday,they said the Medical Council of India for-mulated guidelines for faculty position in

newly created medical colleges in which sen-ior consultant and consultant were resignedas Designate Professor and AssociateProfessor all over India. Senior consultantand consultant having more than 18 yearsof service working in three hundred beddedhospital with four indexed publication weredesigned as designate professor and seniorconsultant having 10 years of service afterpost graduation with two indexed paperswere designed as Associate Professor.

"The Principals of newly created medicalcolleges have invited application for retiredfaculty for fulfilling the faculty position ofprofessor and associate professor withoutany advertisements of the consultant andsenior consultant who were already work-ing in district hospital which were designed

as three hundred bedded hospital by gov-ernment," they said.

"Ideally they should have initial, adver-tised for those working already in hospitalsand later on leftover be filled by retired fac-ulty which would have less financial impli-cation. But due to malafide intention theyhave deprived us of their fundamental rightas we are already working in respective hos-pitals," they said.

Senior consultants and consultants urgedupon the Governor to cancel the advertise-ment which was issued by the principal anddo justice as per Medical Council of Indianorms and take necessary departmentalaction against the persons who are havingmalafide intention to deprive them of ourtheir genuine tight.
