Mir also expressed con- cern over the power crisis, saying that even after 22 hours, the PDD has filed to restore power supply so far and urged upon the Government to take effec- tive measure to restore the basic facilities to ensure that people do not suffer on account of electricity, essentials, road clearance etc. He emphasized that the government should assess the damages for compensation to affected orchardists, as that, they have suffered losses immensely. Senior PDP leader Mohammad Dilawar Mir and MLA Rafiabad Yawar Mir have expressed con- cern over the loss caused to orchards and fresh fruit dealers due to untimely snow fall in various parts of Kashmir division including fruit belt Rafiabad. They urged the Governor's administration to provide relief to the panic ridden affected farmers under calamity relief fund. They have asked the government to depute joint teams com- prising experts of Revenue, Agriculture and Horticulture to the snow affected areas to assess the quantum of damage so that relief cases in favour of the affected farmer are processed timely. President Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil voiced concern over the damages caused due to the untimely snow- fall across the Valley espe- cially in apple rich parts.zIn a statement issued here, Vakil's stressed upon the Governor to intervene and direct his administration for immediate assessment and adequate compensa- tion of losses of fruit orchards suffered due to heavy snowfall. Calling for a comprehensive compen- sation for farmers and orchardists who suffered extensive damages due to early snowfall, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami urged the gov- ernment to go for immedi- ate assessment of damages to horticulture sector. "The government must depute teams to assess the losses in the affected areas so that they are compen- sated forthwith," he added. Government Polytechnic observes Vigilance Awareness Week STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Senior consultants and consult- ants working in Health Department under Directorate of Jammu expressed concern over the advertisement published in the local dailies regarding the requirement of retired faculty for fulfilling the faculty posi- tion of professor and associate professor in the newly created medical colleges. Pertinent to mention here that the Government of India created five new med- ical colleges in State of Jammu and Kashmir at Rajouri, Kathua and Doda in Jammu Division and Anantnag and Baramulla in Srinagar Division. In a statement issued here on Sunday, they said the Medical Council of India for- mulated guidelines for faculty position in newly created medical colleges in which sen- ior consultant and consultant were resigned as Designate Professor and Associate Professor all over India. Senior consultant and consultant having more than 18 years of service working in three hundred bedded hospital with four indexed publication were designed as designate professor and senior consultant having 10 years of service after post graduation with two indexed papers were designed as Associate Professor. STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Senior consultants and consult-ants working in Health Department underDirectorate of Jammu expressed concernover the advertisement published in thelocal dailies regarding the requirement ofretired faculty for fulfilling the faculty posi-tion of professor and associate professor inthe newly created medical colleges.

Pertinent to mention here that theGovernment of India created five new med-ical colleges in State of Jammu andKashmir at Rajouri, Kathua and Doda inJammu Division and Anantnag andBaramulla in Srinagar Division.

In a statement issued here on Sunday,they said the Medical Council of India for-mulated guidelines for faculty position in

newly created medical colleges in which sen-ior consultant and consultant were resignedas Designate Professor and AssociateProfessor all over India. Senior consultantand consultant having more than 18 yearsof service working in three hundred beddedhospital with four indexed publication weredesigned as designate professor and seniorconsultant having 10 years of service afterpost graduation with two indexed paperswere designed as Associate Professor.

"The Principals of newly created medicalcolleges have invited application for retiredfaculty for fulfilling the faculty position ofprofessor and associate professor withoutany advertisements of the consultant andsenior consultant who were already work-ing in district hospital which were designed

as three hundred bedded hospital by gov-ernment," they said.

"Ideally they should have initial, adver-tised for those working already in hospitalsand later on leftover be filled by retired fac-ulty which would have less financial impli-cation. But due to malafide intention theyhave deprived us of their fundamental rightas we are already working in respective hos-pitals," they said.
