CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IN THE SECOND YEAR

Hifolks–RogerFurey,PGKhere.IhavedecidedtolendahandonthisvitalCapitalCampaign.IdothisbecauseIamoneoftheSeniorMembers–havingjoinedtheCouncilin1953attheageof26.Muchhasgoneoninthemanyyearssincethen.AsyouknowourCouncilHomewaspurchasedin1951–thefirstpoolbuiltin1954followedbytheotherpools.OurActivityHallopenedforbusinessin1961.Overtheyearswehaveaccomplishedmuchandmademanyimprovementstoourproperty.

AsJimSavarese,CampaignChairman,notedintheOctoberKnightLifeourgoalforthiscampaignissetat$250,000byLaborDay,2008.

Wehavereceivedcontributionsfrom142individualsforwhichweareverygratefulandthisappealisnotdirectedatthem.IfeelquiteconfidentthatwithalloftheSeniorMembers–HonoraryMem-bers–HonoraryLifeMembers-PastGrandKnightsandourbelovedwidowswehaveanumberwellover1,000.Thisisanappealtoyoutogiveseriousconsiderationtodowhatyouareabletodo.Theamountdoesnothavetobe$1,000.00becausewearequitesurethatsuchanamountmightbeconsideredbysometobeexcessive.WeknowthatourSeniorMembersaremostlyconcernedwiththeirownwelfarefirstandthiswecanappreciate.MaybeyouwouldconsiderincludinginyourwilladonationtotheCOLUMBUSCLUBOFARLINGTONINC–CAPITALCAMPAIGN.

2008DuesIknowthisisonlyNovemberandrealizethatthismaybeabitearlytodiscuss,butIamcurrentlyworkingtowardmygoalofmailingthe2008duesnoticesinearlyDecember.Forpurposesofyourpersonalbudgetplanning,dueswillincreaseby$2.00inaccordancewitharesolutionpreviouslypassedbytheColumbusClubin2003.RegularMembersdueswillbe$114;HonoraryMembersdueswillbe$60,HonoraryLifeMembersdueswillbe$44(ColumbusClubduesonly).Iknowthatthismayseemlikealotcomparedtoothercouncils,butthisisnotyourtypicalchurchbasementcouncil.Wearetrulyblessedtohaveabeautifulgroundsandaccompanyingactivitiesgalore.
