Ilchi Lee presented this prayer at the Opening Ceremony of the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations on August 28th, 2000.

I offer this prayer of peaceNot to the Christian GodNor to the Buddhist GodNor to the Islamic GodNor to the Jewish GodBut to the God of all humanity

For the peace that we wish forIs Not a Christian peaceNor a Buddhist peaceNor an Islamic peaceNor a Jewish peaceBut a human peaceFor all of us.

I offer this prayer of peaceTo the God that lives within all of usThat fills us with happiness and joyTo make us wholeAnd help us understand lifeAs an expression of love for all human beings

For no religion can be betterThan any other religionFor no truth can be truerThan any other truthFor no nation can be biggerThan the earth itself.

Help us all go beyondOur small limitsAnd realize that we are oneThat we are all from the earth. That we are all earth peoplebefore we are Indians, Koreans, or Americans

God made the earthWe humans have to make it prosperBy realizing that we are of the earthAnd not of any nation, race, or religion.By knowing that we are truly oneIn our spiritual heritage.

Let us now apologizeto all humanityFor the hurt that religions have causedSo that we can heal the hurtLet us now promise to one anotherTo go beyond egotism and competitionTo come together as one in God.

I offer this prayer of peaceTo you the almightyTo help us find you within all of usSo that we may stand proudly one day before youAs one humanity.

I offer this prayer of peaceWith all my fellow earth peopleFor a lasting peace on earth.
