On-Line Battery

15

On-Line battery lets the UPS

operate during power failures

without switching, since the battery

is linked directly to the DC bus.

Battery cabinets

In most cases the battery cabinets are external.

Nevertheless, internal hot-swap battery cabinets for low

capacities are available as well:

Page 19: Presentation gamatronic

Static Switch

Distributed Static Switch:

In this case, each UPS module has got its own internal static

switch

Outputs of all modules are linked together and are wired

directly to the load19

Page 20: Presentation gamatronic

Static Switch (cont..)

Centralized Static Switch:

When implementing centralized topology, outputs from all

modules are linked together to the “inverter” input of the static

switch module.

There is one device that handles the inverter / bypass switching20

Parallel Connection

For even more power and extra redundancy,Power+ can be put in parallel

de-centralized configuration. This will enable a combination of both vertical

and horizontal redundancy!

38

Toady there are dozens

of 200, 300, and 400kVA

systems worldwide,

supporting most critical

applications.

Solutions -Trends

• Telecom and Cellular solutions are based on a wide variety of

power requirements.

• Small sites require 100’s watts capacity, whereas medium sites

100-1000’s watts and large sites 10’s KW

Why do we use -48VDC in telecom equipment ?

• Positive voltages cause comparatively more corrosion inmetal than negative voltages.

• Negative voltages are safer for human body while doingTelecom activities.

• Lightning may cause positive voltages in the equipment• Lightning may cause positive voltages in the equipmentcircuitry. In that case, negative voltages (lack ofelectrons) neutralize positive charges and preventexcessive heat.

• Negative voltage is safer for long telephone line fortransmitting power trough it.

• The reason for electing -48V in reference to ground is toavoid the nasty galvanic effects in telephone cabling.+48V would have nastier effect on wet cabling.

Page 45: Presentation gamatronic

User friendly:

-Light weight: 1,2kg/ module

-Hot swapped system controller

-USB or TCP/IP+USB communication

Efficiency:

-LLC tech to achieve efficiency 96%.

-Input PF=0.998, THD for input

voltage lower than 5%

Safety:

-Option to connect 2 external LVD

(Low voltage disconnect)

contactors up to 1600A.

Standard & Maximize system

capacity:

-19” 1U subrack that can house up to 3

hot-plugged rectifiers, or 2 rects +

controller and an LVD device.

-Reach 1266A with height of 13U ((38

recti ers + controller)).

Page 46: Presentation gamatronic

DC power systemDC power system

High efficiency Power systems up to

95%-96% - Reduction in energy costs

Parallel 1UDC rectifiers are lower in cost

than high capacity single rectifiers- Reduction

in Price

A larger quantity of rectifiers creates

singularity during the operation of the

system. Therefore the Power system

becomes more reliable and smaller in

footprint

Page 47: Presentation gamatronic

DC power systemDC power system

Many new standards and industry goals are lead by

the goal to save energy and reduce greenhouse

gase emmissions.

The 1UDC modules of Gamatronic increase

energy savings

The product is more environmental friendly

 Lowers cooling expenses

 Lowers heat dissipation

Less usage of space and storage

Lower generator over sizing (~1 to 1.2)

 Less pollution and fuel consumption
