Congratulations to Paige Mitchell for being
awarded the Golden Frame Award last week.
She has put a lot of hard work into her Art-
work and the improvement has been amazing.
Reading in our modern world is more important than ever. When your kids see you reading and writing in everyday life – reading for pleasure, sharing a story with them, using a recipe, making a shopping list, writing a birthday card, reading street signs, or reading and writing emails – it teaches them that reading and writing are useful skills.
Reading with your child at home will help
them in all learning areas at school. Often
teachers will ask you to listen to your child
read at home. This is a good way to support
your child's reading.
Happy Reading!.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Cross Country at Nagle College last week.
Also, well done to all the students in Grade 3 and 5 who participated in the NAPLAN testing process last week. It is quite a stressful and demanding time and the
students got through the week in a great manner.
As the term quickly flies by this term, it is timely reminder of the importance of reading at home.
where to go next’. In the next few weeks, each teacher will be provided a day out of the classroom to facilitate 1:1 conferenc-ing with every child. This will further strengthen our ability to meet the needs of all the students.
Thank-you to Dave B, Jim and Troy for the work they have done at the back of the school in preparation for the arrival of the new building.

I encourage all parents to read with their child every night. It is a great way to support your child with their learning.
At Tambo Upper Primary School, one of our main areas of strength is the fact that staff are always assessing student progress. This allows the teacher to teach the students at the ‘point of need’. As a staff, we are very confident at where your child ‘is at’ with their learning and

Green room is focusing on TIME over the next two weeks. We are
learning how to use analogue and digital clocks. On Monday we created
our very own clocks. We had to make sure we had all twelve numbers
in the right places and that our hour hand was shorter than our minute
hand.
In Science our topic this term is ‘Feathers, Fur or Leaves’. We read the Stickman story which inspired us to create our very own Stick and Leaf men using natural materials. We are currently creating stories about our Leaf men using iMovie on the iPads.

This term, students in the Red Room have been studying ‘Desert Survivors’ as part of their Science Unit. They have been conducting experiments involving absorption, condensation and desiccation. We have continued to explore different writing styles and focussed on using a wider range of words to enhance our writing.
We have worked on improving our automatic recall of the multiplication facts with Abi showcasing her expertise in this area. We have consolidated the use of the four mathematical operations to ensure that we are able to use them with confidence and accuracy. The students have also enjoyed wood burning in Visual Arts and thoroughly enjoyed their work in Cultural Studies where they have been translating English to Arabic.
During PE sessions the students have been honing their skills in basketball and playing various strategy games.
