Centralization
Surrounding context support
Subang Square as center of
SS15 and help to raise up the
economic and also Subang
Square as the main Building in
SS15
The central building or subang
square can also gives good
impact to the surrounding
context as long as the
surrounding context help or
consistence in support the
central building
The Diagram shows that
Subang square is located in
the center of SS15 and
Subang Square act as the
building that has the highest
function in that area
Skyline of SS15 – Subang Square is the skyscraper building and support it by strong business and educational program in the surrounding

Central Design theme – separation of societal functions
Zone Design or Planning in SS15 is a
good zone planning because the
position of the zoning. In SS15, the
zoning giving good impact or
connection to improve the economic
and convenience to do interaction
between people from one zone to
another zone. Then Zoning in ss15
also well divine into some categories
which have well linked is
Educational or institutional,
business and food area, and
residential area.
The Grid line / Geometry
planning is well designed
between different functions
and activities. The grid design
also affect the circulation in
SS15 which the circulation of
the business area all point to
the center of the SS15 and
which all the source back to
central building.
Education and Institution
Business – food and shophouses
Residential Area Religious complex

The concept theory of Le Corbusier is about Centralization and together with zoning and Geometry in
planning (Grid ) .
The first theory is about centralization, Le Corbusier said doctrine required total
centralization. He said in the city a centrally located is the one with the higher functions, such as the
organs of a big company or factories, banks, trading houses, commerce, technology and also finance.
Le Corbusier said that the centrally building must be high rise building or skyscraper. Then the
skyscraper building must be known as the brain of the city, or as the brain of the whole city. After
that, the building must become face or image of the city. If to match this theory with SS15 area, this
theory is suit well, because in SS15, Subang Square is the building that located in the center of SS15
and also subang square is a high-rise building or skyscraper that function as a finance center and as
the organs of the large corporation or factories. For example, TNB and the Telekom which can be
categories as a big company. In the other hand, some college or institutional also can be found in
subang square which makes many business have taken up to cater the population. The most important
thing subang square also well known as the image of SS15 and become the tallest building nowadays
in that area. Talk about centralization, the positioning of subang square is also located in strategic
position which is near the institutional and also business area which can support subang square and
make it as the first or the main building that play a big role in SS15. Then, the surrounding context
can give and get good impact.
Next, the theory is about central design theme is now still followed by some urban planner or
urban designer. This theory can be the one of the most successful theory in that era and until now. Le
Corbusier said, he strictly said that the separation between different activities or societal functions
must be divided well into different zones. The categories that must be divided into different zones
such as, residential area, shopping and entertainment area, educational and also business. The theory
is well said. This theory also can be apply to match or suit with SS15 area, because SS15 area is really
well organised. Then, SS15 also well divided area between different activities. The activities that
divided well in SS15 into different zones in the food or business area, residential, and education or
institutional zone. On the other hand, The planner also forced to develop the area which is the front
row from that facing lebuhraya pantai baru which is more strategic as business, food and education so
he zoned all the business, food and education into one zone but different block, because the people
who study in college can help to support the business and they need food so he plan the zone based on
logic or linked between one to another zone. The zoning in SS15 really can be seen very clearly. In
addition, le Corbusier ever said that he is one theorist or urban planner that adheres to geometry
planning in his city. He also said that to build or develop a city, grid is a must for the urban planner to
use as their first principles to be embraced. In this case, the urban planner of SS15 is also well used
the planning principles of Le Corbusier because from the top of SS15, the grid in the residential zone
shows clearly.
In my opinion, the theory of Le Corbusier is suit and well to follow for the city planning
nowadays. The only thing that, I need to add on is Le Corbusier is too focus on all the principle or
theory he embraced on. For example zoning and centralization or about the geometry planning but he
not really go into the landscaping or greenery program, which is one of the content that really need to
improve nowadays. Besides that, to help SS15 to be a better city, the thing that needs to improve is
the grid, because le Corbusier adheres to geometry in planning (grid) some area of the SS15 is not
following the order or grid, so to make this theory more suitable and perfect to SS15 the geometry
(grid) in planning must improve and for further city planning the connection between zone to zone
must be consider as one of the principles in developing and designing a city.
