A majority of girls and women in India employ clothes and rags for feminine hygiene which might predispose women to reproductive tract infections. It is difficult to keep the used napkins clean and free of harmful bacteria. Washing and drying the cloth in sunlight may be difficult due to lack of water, private facilities, and cultural taboos associated with menstruation. Hence, UWB provided sanitary napkin dispenser and & Incinerator at 2 schools to benefit 125 girls. These girls were also sensitized on the taboos related to menstruation.
