Tatton Park Take Two! The Reception children had another amazing trip to Tatton Park. This

time, the children went to the farm to see the many farm animals.

They particularly enjoyed meeting Louis the ginormous boar, the

noisy donkeys, the very woolly lambs, the sleepy goat and the chirpy

chickens. The children were also treated to the hilarious spectacle of

some very frisky piglets being rounded up by the resident sheepdogs.

In another part of Tatton Park, the children were taken on a journey

through the beautiful gardens where they used their imaginations to

recreate popular fairy stories. In the orangery they pretended the

huge plants were Jack’s beanstalk. At the bridge they became scary

trolls and by the enchanted tower they called to Rapunzel to let

down her hair. It was a truly magical day, come rain or shine!

Were the Vikings Really Vicious? Last week, Year Three were treated

to a visit from a Viking! If you hap-

pened to drive past Lady Barn on

Tuesday, you would have

thought you had been trans-

ported back in time, as all the

Year Threes were dressed as

Vikings!

We had a fabulous day learning

all about Vikings: where they

came from, why and how they

travelled to other countries, what

their lifestyle was like, what their reli-

gious beliefs were, what they did in their free time and how

they trained for battle!

We learnt that Vikings were not actually always vicious, but ac-

tually rather cultured and talented people. Whilst they are often

referred to as ‘vicious raiders’, they were actually also skilled in

crafting, trading, farming, settling and sailing.

The children learnt so much about Viking life and also had the

chance to make Viking pots, board games and participate in a

Viking warrior training session with spears and shields!

Our real-life Viking (a.k.a. Gary!!!) really brought History to life

and I’m sure if you have any questions about Vikings, the Year

Threes will be able to help you out!

Sports Day

Thank you to all our Lady Barn family for supporting some outstanding

sporting endeavour during our Sports Day events. May I thank the staff for

their enthusiasm and energy in looking after all the pupils and making the

events run smoothly. The pupils delivered in so many ways, their unwavering

energy, enthusiasm. determination and enjoyment of performing was a joy to

observe. Thank you to all our parents who cheered and applauded all the

pupils. The atmosphere was fantastic and your help in making it such a col-

ourful event was most appreciated. Congratulations to every pupil who

played their part in two great days of competition and fun.

Early Years and Infants

The sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon just in time

for the children to run their little socks off! There were a few nerves but lots

of happy children running and jumping their way across the field. The look of

concentration on the faces as they made sure the egg stayed on the spoon

was the highlight for me! It was fabulous to see the fun the children had, the

whole event was a great success. A special “thank you” must go to Mr Lilley,

Mr Pietiewicz and Mrs Massam, for organising, preparing and running the day

with help from some Year 4 children.

Girls Football Two separate Lady Barn Girls Football teams took part in Northern ISA and ISFA competitions staged at Queen Ethelburga's and AKS Lytham. A team made of predominantly year 6 children played amazingly, winning 5, drawing 1 and only losing in the final to finish as runner-up. A year 5 team also finished a brilliant runner-up, this time on goal-difference at the end of a round-robin tournament. Congratulations to all 16 girls who took part and well done to Izzy, Sophie and Jasmine who played in both successful campaigns. Mr Hope

Gymnastics—ISA Nationals LBHS gymnasts were outstanding and with over 30 teams from 12 different schools participating, I am delighted to report that we cartwheeled home with 32 medals. A massive thank you to Mrs Massam and Mrs Hornby, who dusted off their leotards to coach and be my wing-ladies! Miss Stapley

Freddie Gets His First GB Win! Huge congratulations to Freddie. He has just achieved his first win in a national race, smashing the opposition with a time over half a second faster than the rest of the field. Go Fred-die! Performing at the highest level requires dedication, excel-lence and a very strong mind set. We look forward to hear-ing more of your future suc-cesses at such a high level of competition, Freddie.

Class Concerts Our Class Concerts will take place for Years 3-6 during their first music lesson back after half term, with Mrs Drennan. Please don’t forget your instruments and music!
