Season 7, Celebrating The Art Of SingingIn this year, when performing arts organizations must adapt or shut down, Gulfshore Opera has adjusted to the times by offering “Opera al Fresco”. As we celebrate the art of singing, you will find that most of our high season concerts include an open air venue and many social events have optional outdoor seating. Social distancing safety measures have been put into effect to keep audience and
artists on track with CDC guidelines. These safety measures include engaging more regionally based artists to avoid air travel. Our new locally based group, GO Divas, toured the region in fall and will be back by popular demand in the spring. Also the Miami based Latin Divos join us twice this season for a fun evening of “Popera”.We continue to provide a wide variety of vocal music concerts to diverse audiences with several touring concerts ranging from Latin American, Italian and Irish music to the World of Lloyd Webber and an all Verdi opera concert. While we continue to perform at Artis—Naples and CPAC in Punta Gorda, we are excited to expand our reach to the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in Ft. Myers where we make our long anticipated debut with a vivid original production of Pucinni’s La Bohème, rescheduled for January 24.We are particularly grateful to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs for the use of various locations on their beautiful campus. Our Breezeway series there has been very popular and our signature fundraising Gala concert and dinner will take place there on February 28.It has been a difficult year for all of us and we miss our friends who, for health reasons, are not able to join us in person. Through it all, Gulfshore Opera remains healthy thanks to our small staff, low overhead and especially to our loyal and generous Maestro Club donors, the Board of Directors and Trustees. From the whole GO Team, we hope that this season’s concerts, social events and full scale production will continue to enrich your lives, keeping us all connected through the art of singing.

Our 2020/21 season is taking place during a period of unprecedented difficulty for everyone, not least the performing arts. We are conscious of our mission and desire to serve our audiences in three counties and the grants we have been given to fulfill this, while keeping our artists and patrons safe. We recognize the healing power of live music so Gulfshore Opera has responded by creating a series of innovative and safe opportunities to bring original concerts
and special events to our patrons. Thanks for the team’s research to ensure that Gulfshore Opera can continue to bring high quality vocal music to Southwest Florida.
Gulfshore Opera’s work with young people through the Harmony Choir program has been hard hit by the pandemic but will be enthusiastically and fully resumed at the earliest safe opportunity.
Our Board has been strengthened by two new members, John Wright and Elaine Christian who bring valuable experience and local knowledge. We are most grateful to our Board members and our Trustees, who continue to demonstrate their support in so many ways. We are deeply grateful for all the practical and financial support that we have received to date and trust that we will be able to continue to bring you the music you love through socially spaced concerts, well managed and safe social events.
Gulfshore Opera is a resilient and flexible company, with high hopes for the future. Your participation now in whatever ways are right for you helps us to promise that we will be there in future seasons to delight you with staged performances, beautiful voices and the thrill of live performance.

Gulfshore Opera maintains the highest level of financial responsibility and is a valued community partner. Our financial integrity is reflected in our commitment to operating with a lean staff and low overhead while building ENCORE Fund for the Future. Annual growth in donations and ticket sales during our first six seasons confirms our approach. Our Treasurer, Elaine Christian, is a CPA and Mr. Larry Waller, founder of Waller Financial Planning Group, chairs our Development Committee.
GO has been awarded grants by the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, the City of Ft. Myers, City of Punta Gorda, Community Foundation of Collier County, and the Tourist Development Council of Collier County and Lee County.
Donors, audience members, community leaders and performers appreciate the synergy of our artistic integrity, financial responsibility and social engagement.
Under the guidance of General Director Steffanie Pearce, the company engages a balanced ensemble of high quality international, national, and regional performers to present the finest live opera theater and classical vocal performance in the tri-county region. With more than 30 years of professional opera experience as a performer, teacher, stage director and producer, Ms. Pearce is well known and respected in the opera industry and among opera lovers. Audiences are consistently inspired by the programs and professional artists are eager to perform with the company.
Artistic Integrity
Financial Responsibility
Gulfshore Opera does more than produce opera and concerts. Making positive social impact in the SWFL region is an important part of the GO mission. We serve a diverse cross section of the Southwest Florida community through a variety of social engagement activities.
The program works in partnership with existing after school enrichment programs and is delivered to students throughout the region at no cost. We focus on children and families with the fewest resources and greatest need. Harmony Choir participants receive one-hour music classes per week and perform frequently for friends and family. While activities have been hampered by COVID, classes will resume at all 6 locations as soon as safely possible.

Trainees develop tools for success such a poise, stage presence, and confidence, giving them a competitive edge to increase opportunities as a vocal soloist. Nineteenth century Italian opera composer Giuseppe Verdi is one of the most popular composers of the genre. In all he created 26 operas with rich themes and lifelike characters, vividly illustrating conflicts and love-hate relationships. Gulfshore Opera features noted Verdi soprano Robyn Lamp, along with other guest artists to present some of the master’s wonderful arias and duets, excerpted from Il Trovatore, Aida, Othello, Requiem and other works to ensure both a musically appealing and emotionally infectious evening of opera highlights.
