This program provides a speci c focus on the
knowledge, skills and techniques that are
recognized as being fundamental to work in
the addictions eld. It is intended for those
individuals wishing to further advance knowledge
in current developments in the eld. Delivery is
well suited to individuals currently employed or
entering employment in an addictions related
work environment. Graduates are granted a
Certi cate in Fundamentals of Addiction. This
Certi cate serves as the academic component
for the International Certi ed Alcohol and Drug

mental health crisis intervention. Students preparingfor such a career require knowledge of mentalillnesses and a variety of assessment tools and

strategies, sk ills speci c to intervening both overthe phone and in person, pertinent mental health-related legislation, community vs. hospital-based

designed to provide students with insight into the history
of drug use and current cultural, psychological and socialperspectives on the use of drugs. Discussion on the use

given to special issues and hot topics in drug addiction,
including youth,women, media portrayal of drug use and
current debates on the dangers of some drugs. Finally,
understanding common perspectives on treatment and
prevention strategies related to drug dependence and

completion of the written test, participants will take the Practical test on the Saturday afternoon. After successful
completion of both tests, you w ill receive the Z endorsement from the Ministry of Transportation. Students must bring

This course will be a combination of technique and hands-on learning from basic to advanced level. Your course of
study will depend on your skill level. SMAW, GMAW and GTAW processes will be covered as well as pipe welding. Upon
completion of the course, students will be eligible to test for welding tickets as per TSSA, based on their level of exper tise.
NOTE: Students must provide their own gloves, safety boots, safety glasses, pliers, chipping hammer and welding helmet.

Refund Policy1. Upon request, a student will be issued a partial refund if they withdraw from a
course no later than the refund deadline. The refund will be less an adminis-
tration charge of $23/$32, plus HST wh ere applicable.
2. The administration fee of $23, plus HST where applicable, will be charged forwithdrawals and transfers; a fee of $32 will be charged for credit courses only.
3. Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled by the College.
4. There will be no refunds for courses with fees of $23 or less.
5. Short courses, workshops, computer and on-line distance learning and self-
study courses have speci c deadlines for refunds, typically seven days before
the start of the rst scheduled class. Please note the symbol associated with
each course to determine which withdrawal date is applicable.

Audit StatusStudents who register in a graded course but do not wish to complete assignments,
write tests or exams, or receive a grade, must declare their audit status to their
instructor the rst night of class and complete the appropriate form.
Course CancellationFull refunds will be issued if the College cancels a course or workshop because of
insu cient registrations.Course PrerequisitesPrerequisites are listed with each course description and you must complete these
requirements prior to registration. Course credit may be granted based on educa-
tion and/or training.
Course Fees/Income TaxPayment for course fees can be made by cash, cheque, money order, VISA,
MasterCard or Interac. We do not accept post-dated cheques. Tuition fees may be
tax deductible and students are advised to retain their receipt. T2202A forms may
be printed from the college website for eligible courses in February. Tax forms will
not be mailed.
Late RegistrationRegistrations may be accepted up to the start of the second class for most courses.
Waiting ListsIf you apply for a course which is lled, ask to have your name added to the waiting
list in the event a vacancy occurs.
GraduationGraduation ceremonies are held each year in November. The divisions do not track
each student individually and therefore it is the responsibility of the student to
advise their div ision when they are in the nal course of a program.
Financial Assistance for Part-Time StudentsIf you register in a Ministry approved credit course, diploma or certi cate program,
nancial assistance may be available to those who qualify. Inquire at the Financial
Aid O ce, 519-452-4280 concerning Canada Student Loan, Ontario Special Bursary
and Fanshawe College Student Assistance Bursary.

Student WithdrawalUpon written request, a student in a graded course may withdraw from the coursewithout academic penalty by a deadline date representing 70% of the course
duration. For courses 12 hours or less in length, the student must withdraw one
week prior to the start date. The students academic transcript will display a W
grade for the course. Forward requests to the Continuing Education o ce. Failure
to withdraw before this date will result in a F grade.
