2011 Event Report
Startup Pirates @ Porto
After a very intense week, Startup Pirates @ Porto is now over.
We tried to come up with a program with different activities, several
moments to share ideas and knowledge and some moments of pure
network. We are really proud of all the teams. They did an incredible job
and in the end they presented very solid and structure projects.
Now it’s time to look back and evaluate all the feedback that we had from
the participants, mentors, speakers and investors.
Let's look at the results...

Agenda
The Attendees We had an amazing group of Pirates. People from 5 different countries
(Portugal, Argentina, South Africa, Germany and UK) with different
backgrounds (eg: Pharmacy, Architecture, Psychology, History of Arts,
Design, IT or Civil Engineering) between 17 and 41 years old.
They did a wonderful job and the best three ideas were selected to be
pre-incubated at UPTEC, our local incubator.

2. Global Comments/Testimonial
“Nicely done! I am very grateful to have an opportunity like this, to experience some of the best workshops I attended so far and to work on a business idea and present it to investors. Really great job. Keep up the good work. ”
“Thank you for a stimulating week - great to meet and work with people from diverse fields. Thanks also for creating an international event (and the possibility for English speakers to participate!).”

2. In what way you intend to use what you’ve learned?
“Start my own startup”
“To sky drive my new business”
“Use it in the product I am currently developing ”
“I don't intend to use what I've learned so far yet, but I'll be definitely an entrepreneur one day, and this week is making me realize I want to be that person sooner than I thought, because the ideas keep rising on and on in my head and I want to thank Startup Pirates for that.”

3. Other comments or suggestions
“Do more startup pirates in Portugal. Include dinner :)” “Keep up the great work :)” “Better structuring of group discussions (required a bit more facilitation).
Opportunities to reflect on the process. No pictures and noise during the "developing the inner leader" sessions, please (some of the exercises imply great focus, concentration and vulnerability and outside distractions complicate this)
“the yoga was challenging, but maybe a bit too much so (e.g.not sufficient warm-up)! better facilitation of the mentor rounds (to make sure we get to talk with all of them!)”
“The conditions of the Yoga session weren't the best and it could have been a problem if more people wanted to participated. Congratulations for the work done.”
