2. Describe what you believe to be your two most substantial accomplishments to date, explaining whyyou view them as such. (400 words approx.)
My most notable accomplishment has been in leading a team in my first overseas project for the launch of Orange's cell phone services in Thailand and winning the 'best prepared team' award for our team. Being in alien land, and not akin to language, culture and systems of the south-east Asian nation, I met the daunting task of making the team ready for the launch of cell phone services within three months. I had to set up the procedures and processes to manage an IT data center hosting 30 telecom applications for Orange's operations in Thailand. The deadline was stiff, and I had to co-ordinate with different departments, meet product specifications, arrange for dry runs, ensure quality assurance was in place. The most difficult part was working with 30 application teams and learning about all these applications, which were new to me. I had to understand these systems, then deploy them in data center environment and prepare an operation bible. I also had to interact with Orange's global teams located worldwide to employ best practices in our data center. As part of project, I also needed to train 11 newly recruited operators to manage the data center operations. This proved to be quite demanding as most of the operators were fresh candidates with 0 to 1 years of experience, had difficulty in understanding English and had limited technical knowledge. I consider this as my most significant accomplishment because it has molded me into a leader, endowing me with numerous managerial traits. Working on such a prestigious project has instilled immense confidence in me to strategically think and be an excellent planner and executer of things. In 2001 my mother with 2 more volunteer had registered around 100 families for distributing the Polio vaccine in a local slum area. But on the distribution day, due to some problems at 2 nearby camps 300 families gathered at this camp and it was not possible for 3 people to distribute vaccine to so many people. I was playing in a local cricket match, knowing this I spoke to both the teams and asked them to hold the match and help my mother. Everybody agreed and we worked for 6 hours to complete the distribution. All of us felt really good about this decided to organize this camp every year. I consider this one of my best accomplishment not only because I because with this experience I could get a humane heart and see what ails those whose mind can't see the progress of the world.

5. Please choose one of the following two essay topics:a) Have you ever experienced culture shock? What did it mean to you? (250 words approx.), orb) What would you say to a foreigner moving to your home country? (250 words approx.)
Sometime back, watching nature programs, I had experienced a culture shock, as I realized that there is no fundamental difference in the laws of the animal world and human kingdom. Wildlife programs such as Untamed Africa, or documentaries on Savanna and Serengeti on Discovery channel and National Geographic offer immense learning on the laws of nature; how weakness of the enemy is explored to bring its downfall, and how animals of the same clan (lions) act as a team in hunting, even though they have their own leadership quarrels. I watched an episode of lions hunting and killing an elephant, and immediately one thing that struck me was their team spirit in their profession of hunting. Every lion of the group of 5 had a specific role from segregating the elephant from its herd to who will get on the neck of the elephant and how the elephant was brought down to the ground and forced to accept death as its fate. I find these very laws of nature acting in businesses as well. Often it is one weakness or one mistake that can potentially bring down an organization, while it may take huge efforts to build an organization. A s an engineer, and a believer of science I understood that in spite of startling technological breakthroughs, everything is ultimately based on the laws of nature, and we all originating as animal species have to go back to the roots of nature to understand the core of life and its existence
