Term 3 Week 5 Monday 19th August 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our school grounds were a little quieter with the Stage 2 students off on camp last week. All of the children had a wonderful time and participated in some very tricky activities. I was so proud of the kids when I visited on Thursday, with everyone being so confident to tackle the activities and being so supportive of each other. Special thanks to Mrs Whiteman for attending and organising, and also to Miss Robinson and Miss Tinsey for attending. Camp doesn't happen if our teachers don't give up their personal time, which we truly appreciate.
Well done to our CPPS representatives, who attended the Westlakes Zone Carnival last Monday. Miss Swan has the full wrap-up of results on Page 3.
K-2 Cricket program begins today. Thanks to Miss Swan for organising this activity for the children.
Newcastle Permanent Maths test will be sat by our Stage 3 students this Wednesday.
K-2 Responsible Pet Education Program will be held in our library this Friday. Special thanks to Mrs Erps for organising this for the kids.
Book Parade will be held on Wednesday 4th September. Everyone is invited to dress up as their favourite story character for the parade day. There will be a limited canteen running on the day and we would also like to have a Cupcake stall on the day. There is a canteen pre-order slip attached to this newsletter and orders are DUE BY Friday 30th August. Further information about Book parade will come home this week.
Father’s Day is on Sunday 1st September. We will be having our annual Father’s Day Stall next Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August at school. All gifts will be $5 each. Our 2020 Kindergarten Orientation sessions will be held early next term. If you or someone you know are still wishing to enrol a child in Kindergarten for next year, please complete the form below or contact our office on 4959 1374 to register their details and receive an enrolment pack.
Kind regards,
Ms Kim Creswell

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 The Responsible Pet Ownership
Education Program is coming to our school on 23
rd of August.
The Living Safely with Pets Program educates children to understand:
The times when children should leave dogs alone
High risk behaviours that children should avoid
How to recognise the warning signs
When it is safe to approach a dog and how do you do it safely
What to do if they are approached by an unknown or angry dog
Research tells us:
Children aged 0-8 are statistically in the highest risk category for dog attack injuries requiring hospitalisation.
Approximately 75% of children are attacked in the home environment by their own dog or one known to them.
Dog bite injuries to children are predominantly to the head, face and neck.
The forty-minute session is conducted by one of the qualified educators and their suitability tested dog and may help your children to avoid a serious and preventable injury. The program has been well supported with over 850 NSW primary schools participating in the last financial year.
Please speak to your classroom teacher if you have any concerns with your child attending this session.

highlight any dangers in road safety in and around our school.
Please write all of your concerns on the survey. You can also

any additional comments.
Please complete survey by the Friday 30th August. Thank you
