“The best images are the ones that retain their strength and impact over the
years, regardless of the number of times they are viewed.”
– Anne Geddes
Note: For security purposes, the church is asking us to please use
the main entrance when arriving for meetings rather than using the
MSR doors. You can go out those doors and let other people in
through that door but it needs to remain locked. There is an
elevator located to the right of the main entrance that can be
used.
The “Main Entrance” is the entrance just East of the Music Room
entrance across the small parking lot.
However, we will have someone manning the Music Room Door to
let people in this month.

Enter up to 3 Images per category for a maximum of 12 total images. Subject Categories with Interpretations:
The interpretations are not intended to limit your creativity, but to give you a starting point.
Alone (ALONE) – 1) Without anyone or anything else, separate from other people or things.
By oneself, on one’s own, solitary, single, solo, unaccompanied; 2) Depicting a feeling of
isolation or desolation.
At Night (NIGHT) – Photographs taken outdoors between dusk and dawn.
“Critter(s) Large or Small (CRIT) – An informal word for any living creature, from a wolf to a
spider.
Here it is in Black & White (B&W) – Photographs including only shades of gray tone that
generally go from dark (black) to light (white).
Leading Line(s) (LINE) – A compositional technique whereby the viewer’s eye is attracted to
lines that lead directly to the principle subject in the image. A leading line paves an easy
path for the eye to follow through different elements of a photo. Usually they start at the
bottom of the frame and guide the eye upwards and inwards, from the foreground of the
image to the background, typically leading toward the main subject.
National or State Park (PARK) – Photographs taken within a national or state park.
Seven (SEVEN) – A numeral, 7, VII, etc. A group or unit of seven people or things. Anything
representing, represented by, or consisting of seven units.
Silhouette (SIL) – A dark shape and/or outline of someone or something visible against a
lighter background, especially in dim light. The outline or general shape of something, which
makes it easily recognized.
Sunbeams, Sun Flare & Starbursts (SUN) – 1) Rays of sunlight that appear to radiate from
the point in the sky where the sun is located. These rays, which stream through gaps in
clouds or between other objects, are columns or shafts of sunlight; 2) A phenomenon
wherein light is scattered or flared in a lens system, in response to sunlight, and appears as a
haze that washes out the image and reduces contrast; 3) A pattern of lines or rays radiating
from a central object or source of light.

Image Guidelines for Member Show & Tell, Microbrew, Club Website and Year End Contest
There is always a possibility at all of our meetings (if time permits) for member images to be
shown and discussed. Please limit your submissions to 5 IMAGES OR LESS, unless the show and tell
is identified as “Super”, which then you may submit up to 10 images.
All images should be sized for 1920 pixels on the longest dimension, resolution of 132 dpi,
and saved as jpeg. Images should be renamed to include the artist’s last name in the first
characters of the title.
Check your image, if it looks blurry or pixilated (unintentionally), you may have started with a low
resolution or highly cropped image. In this case, you may need to increase the setting in the
resolution box to improve the image; but be sure to retain 1920 on the longest side.
Submit JPG files on a flash drive tagged with your name. Drives will be returned after the
images have been loaded into the computer for projection.
