Focus on Volunteer
Dear ISC families,
We have the iRace #5 on Sunday May 7th, which is fast approaching.
If you are interested to volunteer, please ,make sure that you are registering on the ISC website.
Our next hosted meet will be the Medley Challenge on May 19th-21st. ISC is looking for Host families.
Island Swimming Club needs approximately 8 to 12 host families to each host a pair of billets from May 18th - 21st during the Medley Challenge meet. The swimmers are from the Tualatin Hills Swim Club (the Thunderbolts) in Oregon, aged from 13-17. They've billeted with us in the past dur-ing the Bennett Cup, and are looking forward to returning.
They will arrive in the evening of Thursday May 18 and leave after the meet on Sunday, May 21.
Host families will fulfill their volunteer obligation for this meet. Host families will need to have submitted a criminal record check for every adult (18 years and older) in the household, as well as driver abstracts for those driving the billets between your home and the pool (see details below).
Please contact our Billet Coordinator, Marc Wensauer, at [email protected], if you have any questions.
If you have any questions about volunteering for this meet or questions about a certain role, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you again for your generosity of time and support.
Hope Milloy [email protected] or [email protected]

Hello everybody
Hope you enjoyed your little Easter rest. We are in Nanaimo for our first long course race this weekend. Every swimmer is rac-ing some of their favorite and
also some of the not so favorite races. Whatev-er it is, make sure you give your best as we don’t have lots of meet to get qualify for AA/AAA or Far Western.
Have your mental game ready, you have worked so well in the last week I can’t wait to see you guys race.
Next Saturday April 29th, our practice will be from 5:30 to 7:30am due to the Wave Maker swim meet.
Have a good week Coach Annie

Hello Seniors!
Hope you had a fulfilling Easter weekend with your families.
Reminder those going to Nanai-mo, check in with me on your race plans for this weekend,
getting right into long course season. All prac-tices are regular times this week (Yes, that means Thursday morning is still on!). Start thinking about nutrition into this weekend, feeling as prepared as you can be, which can always be tough after a weekend of Easter sweets!
Swimmers are reminded to let me know if you'll be away or miss a practice.

Hello Swimmers,
We’re only a few sleeps away from Nanaimo and Calgary!
Fresh off an inspirational World Trials, you now have the opportunity to show your
stuff! Wherever you are competing this week-end, remember to move as a team, trust your skills, and race fearlessly.
Whatever your result this weekend, understand that each swim meet is an opportunity to learn and grow. A swim meet is simply a rehearsal for the next swim meet. The meets stay the same as you evolve! Long Course season is short lived so make the most of each meet you attend and enjoy the process.
During your training this week, attempt to do more of what really matters and less of what doesn’t. Prioritize where your energy goes. I'm not suggesting pick and choose when you swim fast or slow. Rather I’m suggesting that how you train is more important that what you train. Doing ordinary things with extraordinary con-sistency will give you an edge and keep you pro-gressing.
See you at the pool,
Coach Ben

Happy Tuesday,
Hope you all had chocolaty Easter and enjoyed your Monday off. I am back in town and I will be there tomorrow night to coach the group. Once again thank you for being so understanding. Thank you to Fynn and Raymonde for
being so great and helping me out.
This weekend we have the Nanaimo swim meet. All swimmers are swimming on the Saturday in both sessions (8am-7:30pm) Some swimmers are also swimming on Sunday (there is only 1 session on Sun-day from 8am-2pm). Please be on deck for 7:45am on the Saturday, ready for activation. Bring some dry clothes, healthy snacks, towels and whatever you may need for the swim meet. It will be a long meet but I am looking forward to see some great swims. For the Green group, this Nanaimo meet is another great opportunity to swim long course and get a different experience. Like I mentioned in my email earlier this week, carpooling would be a great option for the ones who are only going on the Saturday. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will see you on deck tomorrow.
