Terrific Talent Networks

-These organizations understand that not all students who visit their websites are ready to apply for jobs or internships right then and there. That’s why they make it easy for potential applicants to join their talent communities. Employers can nurture these relationships and keep students updated about company happenings and opportunities.

Spotlight on Scholarships

-You probably already know that scholarships can be an excellent tool for getting in front of students early in their academic careers (way before they’re even ready to apply for jobs). So if you have a scholarship program, it should definitely be featured prominently on your university recruiting pages. The following companies really know how to show off their scholarships.

Honorable Mentions for Humor

-One element that doesn’t get included enough in most recruiting pages is personality. We think it’s great when your content shows off your unique company culture and sense of humor. While neither of these companies has a dedicated university recruiting section, we wanted to include them as examples to prove that recruiting pages don’t have to be bland and boring.

Honorable Mentions for Humor-Kixeye

-Offers the “Are you one of us?” quiz. In this short video game, potential applicants indicate whether they view coworkers as “family”, “stepping stones”, or “potential dates” and if their role during meetings is best described as “chief doodle officer,” “good listener,” etc.

-Geneca

-Recruiting selection is written in a fun and irreverent tone and features entertaining videos of “frequently unasked questions” like “Is there coffee at Geneca?” and “What happens if you forget your key card?” (Hint: It involves busting a move in front of the receptionist.)

Your Turn!-How does your university recruiting page measure up?

-Make a list of which elements your website is missing – and create a schedule and plan for incorporating them

-Remember: It does not need to be super fancy (Example: Employee or intern testimonials can be as simple as a photograph and a few lines of text)
