BELMONT VILLAGE OF BURBANK
OCTOBER 2017
FROM THEEXECUTIVEDIRECTOR
Welcome to October!I am so thrilled that fall has
arrived! This summer wascertainly one for the books!Between the hurricane that hadsuch a horrible effect on manyof our Houston Belmont Villagefamily members, the hurricane inthe southeast, and the fire inBurbank, it was an emotionaland draining couple of months.
So often, October gets rushedas stores have holiday displaysin each and every department. Iam looking forward to this year,as I am planning to savor all 31days. I have scheduled weekendplans that include fall festivals, pumpkin patch visits with thegrandchildren, a day of bakingpies, and will refuse to removeany knickknack that consumesof a cinnamon smell, until I amready to bring in the Decemberholiday season.
Additionally, what is betterthan coming off a summer oftriple-digit temperature days
(and triple-digit electric bills) toa time when we can put on asweater to begin our day?
I am interested to hear whatyour favorite thing is about thefall season!
Have a wonderful month!Mary Jane

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWSAll was well in the Neighborhood this past September. We had
many fun and random themes throughout the month. We learnedabout cows and how they can live up to 20 years, Grandparents Dayand its creation in 1978, and Tootsie Rolls and how they were namedafter the inventor’s daughter. There was also a lot of livelydiscussions every day and many opportunities to reminisce and talkabout our own experiences. We also celebrated Belmont Village’s15th anniversary in Burbank with a luau and Hawaiian inspired feast. Our monthly outing was an adventure to the Cabrillo MarineAquarium in San Pedro. It was a very scintillating and enjoyableouting for all. We had lunch right by the water and enjoyed the restof our trip looking at various marine life.
CIRCLE OF FRIENDSNEWS
Circle of Friends had aspectacular September. Ourtheme of the month was Travelto China. Did you know thatalthough China is geographicallylarger than the United States, they only have one time zone?We learned this fact and somuch more about China’seconomy, history and culture. We also had some amazing andfun-filled outings that includedthe Nethercutt Musuem, luncheons, and a trip to themovies. Along with the rest ofBelmont Village, we participatedand enjoyed ourselves at theHawaiian luau themedcelebration. It was such a treatto see the hula dancers and beamong friends and colleaguesalike. Our own Hawaiian native,June, was more than happy toshare her experiences back inHawaii and get us all in the
Aloha spirit. We are excited forthe upcoming months andholidays. See you next month!
