Can I describe (and design) my own quarantine house?
I’ve learnt over the course of the year?
On the class page is
a power-point resource called ‘The Great British SPaG
Off’. This is a murder mystery
activity. Work through the
presentation. Clues are generated each
time you complete a SPaG challenge. These clues will
allow you to eliminate suspects until you are down to just one name. You should record your working on paper. The list of suspects can be
found as a separate PDF. If possible,
print this off beforehand so you can cross off any suspects you can.
(Answers are provided.)
Let us know if you manage to find the
murderer successfully.
Now have a go at designing your own quarantine house? You could even do this on
Minecraft. What would it look like? What would be inside it? Who would be in there
with you?

Can I summarise a
story, yet still maintain an
interesting writing style through the
careful selection of words and phrases?
Re-read the story of ‘Gelert the Faithful
Hound’ from Monday. Retell the story using our own
words, making it shorter than the original version. However, your
writing still needs to have impact so consider your
phrasing and word choices. Think in particular about
varying your sentence openers,
using a range of conjunctions, using
adjectives and adverbs to add
detail and using a
