WESTVIEW’S BUZZ
A Note from your Principal
Dear Parents-
It’s great to be at Westview. We’ve gotten the 2014- 2015 school year off to
a great start. I’ve been very impressed by the professionalism and work ethic
of the staff, the enthusiasm of the students and the support of families. The
trimester has moved into high gear very quickly.
This newsletter gives us an opportunity to let you know what is happening at Westview
Elementary. We want to keep open the lines of communication between home and school
and this is one important way to do that. You can expect to receive a newsletter every
month.
Together we can make this a rewarding school year for all students. We hope that each of
you will consider how you can remain active in your child’s education. We welcome parent
involvement and hope you will consider the multiple ways you can assist us. I encourage
you to be open to helping with field trips, library circulation or extra-curricular activities,
for example. Please see our office staff to complete a police background check if you are in-
terested.
I look forward to working with each of you. When we work together, we can make a
positive difference in our community and in the lives of children.

Dear Parents,
We are looking for parents who are interested in being a part of our PTO. If you
would like to be a part of this organization please fill out the form below and have
your child return it in his/her Thursday folder.
Name: _____________________________________
Phone: _____________________________________
Email: ______________________________________________________________
Would you like to volunteer for working in PTO events: Yes No
Book Fair We are having a scholastic book fair during parent-teacher
conference week (9/22-9/26). Lots of books for all interests will be there including the advance order for the
new Dairy of a Wimpy Kid.
Volunteers Needed We are in need of volunteers to help run the book fair. Please be sure to have a completed background check by stopping by the front office. Then contact Cindy Cook at 973-3445 for
dates and times. Thank you in advance for helping us to make this a great book fair!
Reminder to parents: If your after school plans change, please try to call the school before 2:00 pm. Calling after that time creates difficulty in getting mes-sages to students in a timely fashion. As times continue to be tough for all, please remember that Communities in Schools has a selection of community resources available to all families, including lists of food pantries and organizations that offer free meals. Please contact Cindy Cook 973-3445, and she will happy to assist you. Please be sure your children are following the outlined RCS dress code. It can be found on the RCS website, or you can obtain a copy at Westview. IMMUNIZATIONS: Please make sure your child’s shots are up to date. If you have any questions, please call our school nurse, Lisa Bowersock. PTO is collecting box tops and Campbell Soup labels. Please send them in as you can. Please keep our office up to date with your child’s information. We should always be able to contact you throughout the school day in case of emergency.
