Research Motivation and Scope Research Motivation
Analysis of Wireless Sensor nodes in agriculture field Design of wireless sensor node network in the context of Agriculture
sector of Bangladesh WSN Deployment proposal
Scope
Advancement towards e-Agriculture. Wireless Sensor network deployment in various vulnerable
sectors Advanced pathways for agriculturists and geologists
3
Background
Agriculture sector of Bangladesh comprises 23% (approx) of the country's GDP and employs around 60% of the total labor force
4
PROMINENT PROBLEMATIC ISSUES IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY
IrrigationSoil (Fertility & Contamination):Pest control Improper use of Fertilizer
5
TRADITIONAL WAYS OF SOLUTION OF THESE THREATS, CHALLENGES
Grass root level farmers rely on government organizations and NGOs to acquire knowledge and information about farming( seeds, pesticides , soil condition)
Farmers get help without knowing properly what does he actually need because of lack of field survey by the proper advising authorities
predictions are not so realistic always
WSN can be the Solution...how and why?
Most suitable technology to fit all the requirements of agricultural sector is a Wireless Sensor Network system, where
sensors can be deployed directly in the field, between plants and in the soil,
without cables and building a network infrastructure,
able to run for years without man attendance.
6
why WSN?
Connectivity: WSN do not depend on any pre-existing networking infrastructure. They are able to organize automatically in a mesh-type network and they are resistant top artial failures.
Low-cost: over 100 OEMs or service providers worldwide currently offer or are developing WSN products. Worldwide deployments are expected to grow exponentially for the next 4years from 2.5 millions to 126 billions devices [ The Economist, April 26 2007]

SYSTEM OVERVIEW
13
CHALLENGES AND DRAWBACKS IN DEPLOYMENT
Lifetime due to reliable electricity supply in rural areas.
Reliable data collection due to the limited radio range of wireless sensors
Data management Scientific Challenge may occur as the
application design can become a chicken-and-egg problem due to requirements
Operational Challenge Socio-cultural Challenge Economic Challenge Computer Literacy

15
Future Work
Practical deployment (Feasibility and Simulation)
Analyze critical conditions of sensor nodes (solving the problem of node failure, re-routing, self- recovery etc.)
Implement web based application for raw data analysis
