Working to promote the quality of family life

for those parents and children who

experience disadvantage as a result of

poverty through the provision of and by

promoting access to holidays and other

recreational activities.

The FHA helps families

who:

Have at least one child

between 3 and 18

Are on a low income

Haven’t been on holiday

for at least 4 years

Families are referred to the

FHA for a break by welfare

agents such as:

- Doctors

- Social workers

- Other charities

- Teachers

Families on an FHA

break usually spend a

week in one of our

caravans at a UK

seaside park.

We currently own 11

caravans.

In 2008, the FHA

will help 1,600

families.

A total of 7,000

people, including

4,000 children.

But over 2,000,000 UK

families with young

children can’t afford a

break away from home.

On 5 June 2007, the FHA

launched the Social

Tourism Consortium.

Social tourism is the

inclusion of people

living on a low income

in holiday and leisure

activities.

from the benefits provided by even a simple break

from home. Together we will work to promote

social tourism for the improved well-being and

happiness of society.”

In March 2006, the FHA held a successful event at

the House of Commons which was attended by

MPs from the three major parties, members of the

House of Lords, civil servants, journalists and

senior travel industry executives.

The FHA will continue

to use forums such as

this to raise awareness

of the importance of

holidays.
