My Point

» There should be more laws surrounding teen driving because teens are unskilled drivers who need to practice at driving before they have the same laws as a person who is not considered a youth driver.

Leading Cause of Death

For TeensThe leading cause of death for teens is car crashes. Almost 40% of all crashes are teen related.

Some of The Laws Now

» Curfew- Cannot drive between the hours of 12am and 5am.

» No more than one friend and one family member in the car at a time.



Future Laws in NH

» Must obtain a permit for six months before you can get your license.

» Get caught going ten miles an hour over the speed limit and lose your license for a year.

Are Older Drivers Dangerous?

» Many older drivers are dangerous» Older people seem to suffer from memory loss and

can be forgetful» Many cannot see well» Many older people drive slow, which can be just

as much a traffic hazard as driving fast

Drinking And Driving In Teens

» 60% of all teen driving deaths in accidents are alcohol related

» 522 children under age 14 were arrested while drunk driving





This car accident was from a group of friends who had been at a party and were drinking. They were going 120mph on the freeway when they ran into the back of a semi truck while rounding a corner. The driver and driver side passenger were killed while the passenger and rear passenger side friends walked away with little injuries.



Teens Wearing Seat Belts

» Only 65% of teens say they use there seat belts while driving

» Officers should be able to pull teen drivers over for not wearing seat belts

» Only twenty five states enact this law



Teens Who Speed

» Teens (male and female) were more likely to speed or tailgate with a male passenger in the front seat.

» Male teens were less likely to speed or tailgate with a female passenger in the seat.

» Females were more likely to speed or tailgate with a female passenger.

Conclusion

» Teens should have more driving laws since they account for so much of the percentage of accidents. Maybe if there were more laws there would be less accidents.
