When Would They Use It?Have you ever wanted a fun night out with your mates but you have a meeting or lecture the day after? Drunk-O-Meter solves this problem by detecting your alcohol levels, ensuring that you will not get a hangover the next morning but you will still enjoy that crazy night out. You can either find out your alcohol levels while having your drinks or plan your night out beforehand.

As well as this it can detect whether you are legally allowed to drive in your country or even whether your alcohol intake is threatening your general health.

What does our app help with?

Our app gives adults help in a problem in varying situations. An example of this could even be that they are consuming too much alcohol and they need this app to inform them of their excessive alcohol intake. Furthermore, it just generally tells you when to stop drinking in order to legally drive home or concentrate when doing a work assignment the next day. As well as this, the ap pallows you to plan how much you drink before your night out insuring you will stay sober.

What Phone Features Will The App Use?

The only phone feature that this app will be using is the GPS. This is to show the user the legal alcohol limits in their current country and whether they are breeching these limits; however, this is optional and can be turned off through the settings page on your phone.

What Has Our Feedback Said?

We interviewed several adults who gave some good feedback on our app design and also pointed out some flaws in our idea such as the need for planning in advance. We took this into account when redesigning our mock-ups, and we feel that the user profile was very valuable. What we have found is that our users can be from a variety of ages and may be wanting to watch the calorie count as well as the alcohol.

Is There Any Competition?

There is one app which features on the Google Play Store; however, it is not very well executed or user friendly.

We feel this is because, although that app does inform you of your blood alcohol content, it is very difficult to understand the final results and the app is generally not very user friendly. In addition to this there are not any customisable features of that particular app which we value in our own application.

Is Our App Technically Feasible?

We feel our app is very feasible as it is simple in design and will be a fairly small download, as we do not use many assets. Furthermore we will be doing the calculations on the client to allow for offline use.

If we are to make it accurately measure the alcohol blood volume, we would need to update medical data which would be too big to download unless we have the client to send their request to a server which would need internet access. As a result we have decided to use a simpler approximate calculation over an accurate one.

Business Case

We have chosen a free app as we would like it to be as accessible as possible, however we will also include adverts to compensate for the lack of income. We also queried if we should get a sponsorship from the governments Drink Aware program.

Marketing

For the marketing of our app, we had two ideas. The first of these is to get sponsorship from the government’s ‘Drink Aware’ programme. Moreover, we can place posters in different bars to advertise our application further.

Home Screen Mock-Up

Here is the first screen the app will go on when you start it. It gives you a plain overview of how much more, of the previous alcoholic substance you have drunk, you can drink and whether you are under your current country’s driving limit.

Information Screen Mock-Up

This is the screen which shows you the legal limits of the country you are in and also how many hours it will approximately take until you are sober enough to continue drinking.

Preset Screen Mock-Up

We think its extremely important to have customisation in our app and this is why we have a screen which shows you the presets of drinks you have already saved so you don’t have to once again fill in their information.

Preset Screen Mock-Up

Here is the screen where you can say what drinks you have already had. There are two options after you fill in its information. These are to save this drink as a preset or to add it to a drinking plan for the future.

Personal Information Screen Mock-Up

This is the screen where you fill in personal information about yourself so that we can discover your blood alcohol content.

Drinking Plan Mock-Up

This shows you the plan you have for drinking in the future. After you fill in the drinks you want and the quantity it tells you whether you will remain sober and how many calories you will consume.

Page 16: 9.1 Group 6

We are developing a mobile app to helppeople who are out drinking to stay soberwhen it counts. We allow our users to plantheir alcohol consumption in advance. We are doing this to promote safety and awareness of dangers when drinking alcohol.

Elevator Pitch

Overview

So the main use of our app is to plan how much you drink before or as you are consuming alcohol. By doing this we can calculate your blood alcohol content and give you an estimation for how drunk you are allowing you to remain sober.

We have also listened to feedback from professionals to enhance our app further such as incorporating the idea to plan how much alcohol you consume before you start drinking.

Page 18: 9.1 Group 6

We have also created our own website which

would advertise our app even further!.
